Not unless it's an xyz change it's not. Crystal Wings can come out far easier then this can.. If they print it as is, You'd need to have to run a damn Rank Up Magic card and so far only Shun's and Yuto's deck have the search capabilities to needed for it. Then there's the level restriction basically making it useless against xyz monsters, of which there are a plenty, and against monsters who aren't above level 5. The level restriction needs to be removed and it needs to be changed to an xyz change summoning method to be viable as anything other than a boss for the Phantom Knights. Now, if Yuto has a rank 6 monster in his deck that means he could actually summon Odd Eyes Rebellion Dragon, effect and all just like Shun.

I stopped watching Yu-Gi-Oh after Duel Academy, seems like it got pretty complex with the Synchro's and Pendulums. I don't even know what the fuck came after Pendulum's if anything has, I just feel like the game got more complex, then again if 10 and 11 year old's are still playing it then it must not be THAT complex. Should I start watching Arc-V? I'm afraid I won't understand what's going on because Arc-V doesn't even seem like Yu-Gi-Oh to me, do they still have duels? Do they still use physical cards? Or is it some magic space hypnotic magic shit where they can summon monsters with their minds? I really wish they would get back to their roots, the original series was entertaining as fuck.

The general gist of the show is that the cards are now 'real' via solid light that makes the monsters and attacks real. This leads to action duels, where players can mount their monsters and evade attacks.

I would argue against this actually. Aside from KC Grand Prix the characterization was really well done for the anime counterparts of DM characters. Obviously reading the manga NAS fucked up the characters in the anime but just going off of that path they were able to keep it consistent. World-building was also good as we found out more about what kind of company KC was and the connections of Atlantis to Ancient Egypt. For being filler arcs, they felt rather fresh to me.
As for Bakura there's no excuse for his character treatment but that's NAS for you.
The downright terrible start is also a result of NAS deciding to throw away the necessary character development that happens in the pre-Duelist Kingdom volumes and just start with the children's trading card game in episode 1.
I hope they will remake the anime one day to be more faithful to the manga.

It's funny you should mention Waking the Dragons, since it's the Duel Monsters World that was the biggest wrench in the way the world worked.

I know the reason, and I'm not saying it was bad for what they were trying to do, but it's not good from a story-telling perspective.
Don't get me wrong, I like the show a lot. I even like the filler, for what it was. It's a good adaptation, but it's overall weaker than the original story, which is largely because of production choices mixed with it being a long-runner in the vein of Dragon Ball or FMA, so they couldn't know what was coming. It's more similar to DB and OP than FMA, though, since that one was still closer to a production season (two, really) than the others. Less "let's make a next weeks episode now" every week for five years.

I've seen some people act like Yuto was ooc here, but they seemed to have missed the whole guilt trip he's going through after seeing how much worse shit got because he left.
Personally I think rage born from guilt is more interesting than the usual ACADEMIA REEEEEEEE we get.
And it would kinda suck if Yuto's entire character arc basically amounted to starting shit, dying and then parroting all of Yuya's beliefs.
