I remember people always saying that it was for comedy, and that it was hilarious that they were flying out of nowhere like DBZ, etc. But then I've been thinking about the fact that until the anime came out, apparently no one noticed Jotaro and Dio were flying during their fight in the manga (some people didn't notice the DBZ auras either, but those people are just retarded), which means that by the time of that fight it's the second time 2 stand users start flying out of nowhere. So maybe it's serious after all and random stands flying is something Araki dropped later? It will at least be interesting to see if anime-onlys find it any more weird than the other fights.

Pretty much my exact feelings, Part 4 is my favorite but I really look forwarding to seeing the Part 5 and 6 fights animated.
My only concern is that DaviPro is budget as fuck and IDK if they'll be able to do the bigger fights in the later parts justice. Maybe Part 4 will be super successful and consequently Part 5 and 6 will have massive budgets for animation.

I'm really starting to get a feel for the voice cast. I was unsure if the guy voicing Josuke could hold a candle to the guy voicing him in the games, but he sounds great. Koichi sounds great too. I thought I'd feel like I'd miss the Josuke from the games, but this Josuke works well too I think.
I also really like the "one fight per episode" formula they got going with this one and the next one as well (judging from how there is no "part 1" tacked on to the next episode). That being said, I do hope for the more story heavy chapters like Sheer Heart Attack or arcs with more important characters like the Rohan fight are given more than one episode.

Parts 1 and 2 are past, we can't compare them to anything that came after.
Part 3 looked pretty good, specially for a 48 episodes series. It's just that people tend to have selective memory. Dio's World looked great, it was only episode 47 that looked bad - Episodes 46 and 48 had the most visually demanding scenes (Kakyoin's death, the very first ZA WARUDO, Road Roller) and they looked impressive.

I've always been a big fan of Tamami, he has such a weak stand but is still a worthy enemy due to being SUCH a little shit. The feeling of being a kid and having some adult in your house messing about with your mother is a pretty primal terror (one he Araki uses to great effect later in the Part), and it really makes this story work.
DP did a great job fitting it all into one episode.

Wow, I didn't think they could do it, but they managed to make the only bad Stand battle in Part 4 entertaining as hell. My faith is totally restored in DaviPro. I'm just so happy that my favorite part is finally getting animated and they're doin it real good. The BGM, the animation, the voice acting, the direction, the scene cuts, the editting, the effects, it's all top-notch.
Also, IDK if everyone noticed, but Josuke is purple again and that's great. The dark navy blue he was rockin for the first few episodes was decent, it works, but Josuke is meant to be purple damnit.

I think the point with Koichi is his potential was hidden, like others have said he wasn't quite ready yet, but once he grew as a person so did his stand.

More shitting on The Lock actually, I love Echoes. Reading the manga, it felt kind of flat and contrived, like the ways he guilted Koichi's mom with blatant lies. I thought the con artist's character design was nice and sleazy but despite Araki's expressive art, the story just failed to impact me. I didn't feel like the stand abilities were used cleverly like they are everywhere else in Part 4.
But the animation and sound really added a lot to this episode and gave it life it hadn't before. This might be an adaption on par with David Pro's Part 2, except now it's actually animated instead of a slideshow!

I guess I justify it because, the scenarios are almost always contrived, like the characters have to act like dumbasses to even get in danger to begin with (see most of Part 3), but the Stand abilities are always used in clever and interesting ways. In that arc, the con artist (I am terrible with Japanese names) just flagrantly lies to get his stand to activate, and Koichi gets his mom to not kill herself by... basically having his new stand yell at her really loud. Getting Echoes to imitate phone dialing and the "BOING!" moment in the Yukako arc was much better.
That said, I don't really feel strongly enough to continue arguing. Maybe the arc was better than I remember. Fine, s'all good, then I guess Part 4 is great because it literally has no bad stand fights.
BTW I liked The Sun a lot.

This episode was the same pace as most ones before it, it was 4.5 chapters. What really would have sucked would've been cutting off the very end and leaving people on a cliffhanger for a small inconsequential battle, it worked much better with the build up and the payoff all in one episode.
DIO's World was actually way faster paced than this and that was a battle all about tension rising slowly.
