It'll be nearly impossible. If the Musashi is properly commanded and crewed, then a destroyer by her lonesome can't make a successful approach on the Musashi. Torpedo surface combat in the expected range such as Guadalcanal was 7-13% accuracy, with pretty poor chance of landing a hit at long range 10km spread.
If Captain Mike's incredible luck translates into landing a hit, I think that it's still an uphill battle, since the Musashi's torpedo defense system is much more substantial than anything that the Harekaze has faced so far, and Musashi's zone of immunity is just so insane. One last thing, Musashi's turning radius, one of the most impressive of any capital ship, is comparable to the Harekaze, quite absurd if you think about the dimensions of the battleship.

As a medfag I had a hearty kek at the last one. Nobody will admit it in public, but behind closed doors that is exactly what is happening. Best thing is, the weight "problem" in the US, is a fucking goldmine. Launching a torpedo at close distance would be a better option if you want to deal damage as it's easier to hit. However, I doubt that ramming Musashi and torping a her would be viable as 1. Half a roll a day isn't so unusual for girls. They're not efficient with that stuff. I've seen people waste a whole roll plus a whole roll of paper towels in one day. That last episode was really painful to watch, who ever came up with the mind controlling hamster plot deserves to be shot along with whoever decided that the quest for toilet paper and clean bums warranted half an episode. Let's talk simple numbers here. It's, obviously, just an aproximation, but it works for starters.
Musasui and Yamato were sunk by 19 torp/17 bombs and 11-13 torp/6-8 bombs respectively (but most of the bombs were small ones that damaged the upperstructure swithout causing great damage to the ship capability to stay afloat - it was the torps that sunk them)
The torps that were used against Yamto-class battleships were 600 lb (270 Kg) Mark 13 torpedo
The Harekaze packs a 4-launcher of 1080.27 lb (490 kg) Type 93 torpedos.
Simple math shows that's the equivalent of 7.25 US torpedos. Since 11 of them were able to SINK a Yamato-class ship like the Musashi, 7 and a quarter would be "believable enough" to take it out of action for the purposes of an anime series without having to stretch too much the suspension of disbelief.

Plus, the Hipper was far less armoured than teh Musashi. Glowworm actually did cut several holes in Hipper (and lost her whole prow in te process), but Harekaze would simply SPALT against Musashi.

It has to be the case where enough compartments are breached so that the ship couldn't correct her listing. That's essentially taking in about 1/10 of the Musashi's displacement in water over one side. Saturated and unrelenting air strikes whittled the two hotels down, while a tincan such as the Harekaze has to achieve this in one go.
I find it harder for the Harekaze to bring the ship down when compared to Sibuyan sea even if the Type 93 oxygen torpedo packs 1000lb worth of explosive per fish.
