DSoD sounds okay to be honest. Only people who seem to dislike it are shippers who got cucked yet again, people who got their hopes up WAY too much or people who were going to shit on the movie anyway.
It's not perfect by any means though, the duels being so short and Aigami being a jobber are large problems. Although I can justify the duels by saying they were trying to write them closer to the OCG.

The thing I detest most about Arc-V and all of the new people it brought on board to Yu-Gi-Oh! is that most of those new people are pretentious, and just looking for some outlet to look down on other people. As a game designer, I'd have to say that there's an argument to be made about how pressing an advantage you already have is potentially worse than just outright cheating in the first place.
All the puzzle does is make the good stay good even in situations where they'd otherwise lose due to bad luck. In D&D terms, it ignores the penalties for rolling a 1 if you've got a really high bonus in the thing you're rolling for.

I don't think Yuma would ever actually create new cards when not fighting an opponent with some sort of connection to the setting of ZEXAL. So he probably wouldn't do that if he ever Dueled Atem. He's pretty strong still though, by the end of the series. If Atem got access to some updated cards though I guess there's a chance he'd win. If it's just his original Deck though, I doubt Yuma wouldn't run that ass.
