Almost, Kaneki realizes that Arima did not see him as a ghoul, but a human and that he intends to kill him all the same. Kaneki then denies to himself that he is a human and repeats that he is a ghoul. Mirroring his transition from human to ghoul in the original.
Seems that IXA is a quinque that changes shapes and it is most vulnerable when extending. Kaneki breaks off a piece when it extends and succeeds in destroying it when it returns to lance form.
If these spoilers are true then this is some seriously sad shit. Kaneki not only failed to get himself killed, he also killed Arima who was completely unarmed after IXA was broken and Narukami fell to pieces after one last discharge.

That's the first part of the spoilers. Kaneki begins regenerating his legs, but Arima closes in and is about to finish him off. Kaneki catches IXA with his kagune. Even so Arima pushes on and IXA begins to break until Kaneki has that "I am a ghoul"-moment and pushes him back after regenerating his legs. Now Kaneki lets lose 8 huge kagune tentacles which split up further and chase Arima. Arima dodges them all, but fails to notice one tentacle that comes out of the wall and it grazes his cheek. By now Kaneki is crying but the fight continues. Kaneki monologues and reveals a weakness in IXA's defenses. When it is changing forms it is much weaker and brittle. As Arima switches from one mode to another Kaneki breaks off a piece and IXA is left with a gaping crack/hole in its form. Arima changes to shield mode as Kaneki rushes him with his rinkaku and IXA finally breaks. Arima makes one last effort and swoops over to pick up Narukami and lets loose one last bolt of lightning. Kaneki covers himself in his kagune and endures it. When it is over he sees Arima through the cracks just staring back at him.
Kaneki: Thank you very much, Arima (father).
Arima: I will not be needing a new quinque any more.
Then Kaneki kills him.

Arima defeats Kaneki, manages to get Cochlea under his control and goes to Rue Island after. Yoshitoki sees him with a quinque that he hasn’t seen before, and he comments, “What happened to Narukami?”
Arima responds, “Narukami needed to be repaired, so I found myself a new quinque that is just as effective as IXA.”
Yoshitoki eyes the quinque. “Of course. As long as it gets the job done. Have you named the new quinque yet?”
Arima pauses for a second, contemplating. He stares at the quinque, the shiny black texture gleaming in the white light.
“Tobiashi.”
Yoshitoki nods in approval, and Arima bows slightly as he leaves the command control room for the battlefield.
Arima then proceeds to, in a style reminiscent to that of the Whack-a-Mole operations of the 24th ward, whack all the Aogiri ghouls in the head with his new quinque, Tobiashi, Flying Foot.
