I call the dragons a "theoretical possibility" even though they're shown because we still don't have 100% confirmation if they are actual dragons, some kind of illusion or ethereal form or exactly what the fuck they are.
Actually, having something like these magic gods go against Touma could be a near perfect opportunity to explore the dragons/Touma's hand more.
Is it some shape shifting thing that takes a different form for every person that sees it? I guess it's possible both Izzard and Mikoto could have seen dragons if this were the case, but I think this theory is false because there are too many other dragon references in this novel besides those two.

It's longer in text, but Shinobu getting chased down by a hunting rifle would be a pretty short scene in animated form. Probably two or three minutes tops for the whole thing, not counting the inevitable cut between Shinobu getting shot in the heart and Yukari calling bullshit on the embellishment.
All four chapters of volume one have their flashier moments, as do all the early volumes, but a significant chunk of adapted episodes would still just be talking heads.
