Rather than a scene of him riding his bike to court, they could have just easily not included it and opened with an outdoor shot of the court house and then cut to him being there. Was anyone honestly expecting this to be anything more than ass? Gyakuten Saiban works because it's a game. The story is fine enough, but the real appeal is that AH-HA! moment, which won't be present in the anime for the most part if this first episode is any indication. If I'm remembering correctly, they just sort of glossed over a few of the logical steps and went onto the bigger conclusions.
A show like this could work if it was focused on visual direction, but so far it's directed to look like the game while somehow having worse animation and art than the game.

I've been using DeSmuME. It's really annoying, though, because it has a problem with slowdown. The inconsistent pace of the music is really distracting, especially when it's one of my favorite parts of the games.
