How do you feel about Yowamushi Pedal? How do you think it compares to other sports anime?
I think it's gay
It drags. It feels like every episode, they make 50 meters or so. I can't believe that it's getting a third season.

It's alright. Really does drag on at times though.
I remember in the first season, there was that sprint for the first checkpoint, where they took an entire episode to go 100m or so.

I really liked the anime, but stopped watching right after the 1000km training arc, MC whining and doubting himself just after he had supered such a trial was a letdown. It is still in my backlog though, I'll finish watching it someday.

Not great as far as sports series go due to pacing issues and silliness towards the latter half, but I really like the characters. Some of them are a bit ugly but I find that there are little to no filler team members (I guess because the teams are small) and there's at least a few likable boys/good ships in each of them.

Also, while I got all caught up in the hype of the race, I think it's kinda lame because the only "strategy" is to just "pedal harder". It's not something like Basketball or Football where clever strategies or whatever can turn the tide, or you see various skills going head to head, at the end of the day it's just a flat-out race. There's not much to appreciate in a re-read, is what I mean. Whereas I can come back to Eyeshield and enjoy the well-constructed matches again and again.
Is this any good? I'm a huge fan of cycling but the shounenshit and fujo pandering always put me off.

There is definitely a lot of shounenshit and fujo pandering, the fujo pandering was even there considerably in the manga which surprised me. However it is also very good when it comes to pleasing fans of cycling too. The mangaka cycles and participates in races himself so he knows his stuff.
And yes, there's lots of mountains. The protagonist himself is a climber.

People have really low standards for what constitutes 'homoerotic', there's nothing really overtly gay about any of those series. It's just attractive men interacting with each other, and if you look at it with fujogoggles (or an anti fujo bias) maybe it's more.
