Reiji's deck isn't brickproof, but anyone with 2 level 4 brain cells to overlay can make good plays with it. Probably the best part of watching Reiji duel is that most of the time his plays are realistic for the deck. Exactly, the whole point of the Jack's duel was not only to find his own way but to place his own self in the hands of the people around him. In other words the whole point of that duel was that to show Yuya doesn't duel with self satisfaction, instead he united the whole city with him. Him finding his 'own' way was the least important part of that duel. The main goal was to ditch that self satisfaction persona from episode 65 and he did.

Back in their first duel Yuya had just gotten to Synchro. He's lost and confused and he needs his Yuzu. There are many things plaguing his mind right now. Then Reiji selects him to fight Jack in the exhibition match. Jack says he'll defeat Yuya in three turns which really pisses him off, so Yuya will use his Entame duel to prove him wrong. I get this part is self-satisfaction. He isn't thinking clearly and his mind is focused somewhere else. He feels overconfident in his dueling and thinks he can take Jack out easily by underestimating him. Fine I can see all that.
But now we go to their latest duel. As I said the only REAL change I saw was that Yuya was 100% focused on ending the Tops and Commons conflict by bringing smiles to them. He was doing whatever it took to hang on to that ideal while trying to convince Jack it was his own. This is what didn't make sense to me because it just seems like what he's always done. There's nothing novel or fresh about it. He clearly doesn't want to part ways with his dad's style of dueling and uses Pendulum summoning as his excuse for justifying it's his own style. I think it's kinda dumb. But he did duel without self-satisfaction this time if that's what they were aiming for. He had a clear goal in mind and the willpower to succeed in completing that goal. He certainly wasn't arrogant in that manner. So I'll agree he developed there but I feel it could've been executed much better.
