But in serious I used to do that, going through that ranking. However, the fact is how much no newer animes are making the list? Steins;Gate made the list and so did Madoka in the more recent periods. Why hasn't any new anime made the list? Older anime not making the list is perfectly reasonable given its age and outdated looks but newer animes? There is no excuse for them

Newer shows do make the list. They just drop out of the list quickly because of fads. Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill and Hyouka were all high on lists when they were out. Then forgotten after the show ended.
Few shows remain top of the list for years. And even then, the few shows that do remain at the top are not always the best shows out there. So really, you're not gauging the quality of the show. Rather its hype level. And just because a show like FMA remains high in hype doesn't mean its the best shounen. It just means its the most popular shounen (and even then, that has to do with TV syndication).

The premise is awesome and there are a lot of room for the story to grow. However, the execution of such ideas is not very strong as it relies on typical action anime tropes.
I think what I love about Ajin is the concept of immortal in a story. Another franchise that also tackles this topic is Dark Souls and how the burden of immortal is tied to everything. If I was the author I would have taken the story into a more philosophical perspective like Ghost in the Shell. asking questions like "What would you do if you are immortal" or "How does people deal with immortality" rather than a typical chase story
