How are Vertical's release compared to fan translations? I like them a lot, especially the presentation of the volumes themselves.

No. It's the studio that did Knights of Sidonia, and they've improved. It'd be really hard to translate the manga's art into animation, and it would suffer for it. The CG is perfectly fine, on-model, and stylized. The actual animation has only gotten better as the shows progressed. It's the most animated show I've seen in recent years, thanks in part to them going for CG, so it's a nice trade off. Also, all of the changes between the manga have only made this better. This is AOTS for me.

I kinda get what your saying but cgi still has a long way to go. Everything just feels clunky. Im still enjoying the show though, dont get me wrong. I just dont like how more studios are adopting this style.
A mediocre manga got a below average adoptation. Why should /a/ care?

Don't get me wrong, I like the anime so far and don't really mind the CG, but if they anime keeps changing scenes such as this one, I guess it's time to pick up the manga.

The anime adds a lot of clarity to scenes where the manga jumps around and assumes you can piece everything together.
That being said it also changes some things, and for the most part, for the worse.
Like Kei should be found out by now, since he had the drinking party with the old men. So now the reveal will be completely out of place.
But I think both the anime and the manga have their own merits.

I agree shading and some other stuff should be improved in the next 5 or so years.

If this is your problem then you're never going to get what you want, studios literally cut frames because japanese DON'T like high framerate in anime, it doesn't fit the style.

It was a clever way to fuck over that building. Tons of security around your target? Drop the bigger building nearby on top of it. And Saitou rode the building on the way down.
I'd have preferred the plane, but this substitute struck all the right chords.
