The moment during Nise's airing when I came to realize that back in Nadeko Snake the reason Oshino sent Kanbaru up the mountain wasn't because of her arm but because she herself is spiritually sensitive.
If it wasn't for NisiO's Hanekawa boner, Kanbaru would be the next in line for protagonist just based on her lineage and connections alone.

The god-tier type characters who are abrasive and much better off than the people around them but are justified in their personalities due to either their circumstances or results.
From an authorial standpoint, having the girls who know everything be your stand-in makes sense. We know Anshin'in for example is actually the author in Medaka Box to Iihiko's reader.
