There was a battle in the game that wasn't even mentioned in the anime.
When the group was heading home from Tuskur, zombie assassins attacked them, then they turned into demons, and when defeated they finally turned into salt. I just realized that Oshtoru also turned into salt when he strained his spirit too much and the mask ate it up.
They never mentioned who the assassins belonged to. But considering that masks have the power to transform people and in return it turns people into salt when overused, it might be someone who is familiar with such power, probably Dii.

Without that, I'm not sure. Yamato has masked generals, but they can only use their abilities for brief periods of time, often with great cost to their own forces. Even in the last episode he cut the Kuon leaving scene into at least 3 parts, and mixed with the Haku+Oshtoru scenes. He's jumping back and forth in time for absolutely no reason, and it was hard to follow even after playing the game.
If I remember correctly the episode starts with Kuon already in the small town outside Yamato, then you get Haku returning as Oshtoru and telling everyone what happened(go back in time), cut back to Haku resting with Osthoru after the battle(go even more back in time), then you have Kuon leaving(jump forward in time), and then finally Oshtoru dies(jump back in time), then you have Kuon leaving AGAIN with Haku watching her this time(jump forward in time), and finally the part with Hakushtoru's announcement.

That's impossible, anime planning starts months before the anime airs, at a point where the game must've been on the finishing stages of development or starting testing. No one is going to send a full script out at that stage. He must've gotten some guidelines and outline of the script, which is why the general plot line is alright and it kept a lot of scenes, but it failed discerning which scenes were most important and missed some details.
Keep in mind that it also depends on the writer, for some reason people keep blaming the director but they forget that he didn't write the script for the adaptation, maybe the writer is the one to blame. Most anons are just idiots that think that Aquaplus can do no wrong, but they're also at fault for the adaptation being so poor.
Even then, I don't think it was bad, it's certainly better than a lot of anime these past 2 seasons, and it's only bad if you played the game beforehand.

This should have been emphasized more in the anime. She hasn't really done much wrong there, as Oshtoru hurt his leg from protecting Nekone from falling building parts, which was no way her fault. But in the game butting in in the middle of the Vurai battle was directly responsible for Oshtoru's death.
They just made so much of the drama of the last couple of episodes so dull. Also no Vurai bullying Anju to kill herself, he bullied Oshtoru instead.

Funny thing how they added a LOT of onsen fanservice, and yet they changed the hottest scene in the game. In the anime when Kuon found out that Hakuroukaku (the inn they stayed in) has a massive bath she dragged the other girls there, got them naked and jumped in.
In the game, she did pretty much the same, except they found the bath with Haku and Ukon. Then she got naked in front of everyone and started playing around in the water with Haku and Ukon watching her in amazement. When she realized that Haku is still there and watching her, she asked if he had seen "everything" (there was a part where she was jumping around and Haku's inner monologue implied that he had a clear view to between her legs). Then she walked up to him and knocked him out in rage.

The first episodes had Haku being a lazy, but also competent guy and even praised as intelligent. Anyone with any sense of storytelling would expect this to go somewhere. What followed is Haku cleaning sewers for 20 episodes without so much as a hint of competence. In the middle of the show he gets his memory back which should kind of be a big deal. This failed to affect his character in the slightest and next episode he's right back to cleaning sewers without giving a shit. Any time they went to battle he stood in the back complaining, showcasing none of this supposed "intellect". All the while Oshutoru constantly praising him for how interesting he is to always pull through with a "plan".
And then the one fucking time Haku actually did come up with something it managed to be the most inomprehensible thing in the show.
