After all the shit they did to expand the Seijoh game, including giving it non-manga material just to make Seijou better than they were in the manga, they fucking better.
This game did not need 5 and a half fucking episodes.
Production I.G. completely fucked up season 2. They rearranged half of the pre tournament events. They created anime only sequences while cutting sequences from the manga. They spent all their time building up Aobajosai that they killed the momentum for everything the arc built on. They even had the teacher make a speech about Aobajosai being their rivals that never existed in the first place.
The correct way to experience season 2 is to ignore the entire opening(just read the manga) and start the anime at the training camp. Then stop watching before the Dateko v Seijou game and go back to the manga.

The closest to SoL haikyuu has ever been was showing Yachi and Tsukki's home lives. It would be cool to see other characters get some development outside of volleyball, but the direction it's going is in the manga it's only going to be more back to back intense volleyball matches and nothing else.

I enjoyed it too, but I read it all in one go. I've done things this way ever since the ant arc in HxH. Everyone complained about the pacing there, but I read it all at once, and it's honestly my favourite arc.

I'm not a big fan of either, I just really enjoy the matches in Haikyuu, to be honest.That said, although I have liked Tsukishima's development a lot I hope the author is done for good with him because during the Shiratori match it felt at times like he was the actual protagonist. I also missed a bit more of focus on Kageyama and Hinata, especially the latter, but on the other hand I like that Karasuno seems like a more cohesive team now. For example, Kageyama is a genius setter but nowadays it feels like he just blends with Karasuno so well that his presence becomes almost invisible, except when he pulls a risky trick or makes use of Hinata. But Hinata... Ushijima had a hate boner for him but at times I felt like he should have had it for Tsukishima instead. Maybe the author was trying to handle too many things during that match.
Well, I hope we can move on to other characters like Tanaka or Ennoshita. I expect the next training arc to be shorter, though, and to focus among other things on Hinata and Kageyama's newest attack.

That arc made me realize Furudate is not good at balancing several characters at once. It doesn't help that shiratorizawa is probably the least developed of all rival teams so far. At no point did I ever felt as hyped about that match as I did for karasuno vs seijou or eventually vs nekoma.

Pretty much. Shiratorizawa was supposed to be something like an end boss, but they ended up feeling like a super long side track for the eventual Nekoma match.
The only person on that team that felt even slightly important was Ushiwaka, but that's just because we've seen him before and people kept hyping him.

Because it was the first time we met them and Ushijima doesn't have much of a relationship with the main duo, unlike Seijou, Oikawa and Nekoma. At times I wishthat Karasuno had actually lost against Shiratorizawa. I would have felt bad for the third years on Karasuno and Nekoma but that way we would have get more hype for the next Interhigh. Then again, that would also mean streching the manga quite a bit, introducing more characters, having Hinata stop wearing the 10 number, etc.

Thing is, Haikyuu was insanely lucky to get such a splendid job from Production IG. A soundtrack that hypes the pants of your buttocks for almost every scene, fitting and motivated voice cast, Sakuga madness for important shit, incredibly consistent art all throughout the series and sticks to the target designs and really good sense for direction and how to bring the panels to life and then mixing everything mentioned before in a professional manner.
I'm somewhat baffled to see such a deluxe treatment, compared to what 90% of other shounen series get, yet thread after thread, I see (the same?) people still complain about a few bullshots, while ignoring how the animu as a whole is a fucking jackpot as far as adaptions go.
