I haven't watched much of the old ones, but the animation, music and voice performances differ.
I really dig the voice performances in the new ones, as well as the music, but I'm probably incredibly biased because I saw those first.
But basically, if you want the story of JoJo, the new ones work, they look and sound good, and get most of it right (as I understand).
However, I hear a fair number of people who followed the manga for all these years think it's not quite perfect as an adaption.

I dropped Code Geass and Gundam 00 after watching three episodes each.
I love Gundam Unicorn despite its flaws and it is one of the few gundam shows I have enjoyed in a long time.
I download and stream anime as well as download manga to my pc and read others online.

As for Japanese comedy, it hardly ever makes me laugh. I laughed once while watching Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu and I definitely don't think Gintama is funny at all. I wait for and enjoy the serious arcs.

You aren't the only one who feels this way. Trust me. It's a shame because the Japanese are capable of doing so much fucking more than what they are doing now. They are a very creative bunch who have made fantastic and interesting things in the past.
It's like when you observe that insanely smart guy or girl who doesn't apply themselves. They can do so much better, but they choose not to and would rather settle.
Inner monolouging and explaining special attacks and what they do when the after effects are clearly shown is cancer in anime and needs to die even in non action anime they tend to explain shit the viewer could work for themselves.

Even though a lot of my friends love 80/90's anime anything post 2003/4 is far better, aside from the odd show like HxH, Ranma and early dragon ball most of the 'classic' sucked I even went back to watch some to see if I missed anything. That's the thing, I am/was one of those. I still love yuri series and want them to stay yuri, but I've grown to see fanworks as a separate entity I guess.
Anyway, when you start actually searching for doujins that are specifically about this, you find that they're not as common as you'd think. It would be helpful if there was a Japanese name/term/tag to designate such works, but there doesn't seem be anything that's consistently used. Best way I found is to search a specific series/character and see what turns up, but this is entirely dependent on how popular the series is. For example, Kuroko from Raildex has a fair amount of stuff, while Sasameki Koto has a single doujin.
The page I posted above is from that one Sakura Trick doujin by Bolze, which is what started me on this whole thing.
The MariMite prostitution series by Mizuryu Kei is pretty godlike.
Sailor Uranus has a lot of material, artist BANG-YOU seems obsessed with her. Though I personally prefer Nepture and she doesn't get nearly as much stuff. Black Dog did one doujin with her a long time ago, though. He also did a Strike Witches doujin with Sanya getting fucked while Eila looks for her.
I've found only a few original manga about this, like Yuri-kan by Nagare Ippon and Yuri no Kimochi by Aji Ponntarou (both are like two chapters only). But for some reason, originals don't do it for me as much as doujins based on existing stuff.

It's a fun experience every single time and I'm amazed I've never been let down. It also feels good to watch things by the disc. It allows for natural stopping points and I've always absorbed more of the show watching that way compared to burning through downloads.
