Next week Mizukami Satoshi's manga Spirit Circle will have its final chapter published. In honor of the threads we've had over the past few years, I'll be dumping the entire manga in the next seven days.
To anyone not familiar with Spirit Circle, this is the perfect time to catch up.

The story is just coming to the end, they already finish all the reincarnation and the story is pretty much all wrap up. The only thing left would be the epilogue.

SY is my least favourite of his big 3 works (not counting his debut and short stories compilation). It seems to lack something

It doesn't have as much of a focus? Samurai guy is the main character, then his girlfriend gets rocked and he goes and drinks while Senya goes from creepy monster to awesome main character, and we're not sure from Senya's snow vision if we're going to see his whole life too. The snow vision was a really cool touch, letting us see how much more of his heroic life there is, but I could never really pin down SY.

SY is my favorite honestly, it's not his best in terms of writing quality, Spirit Circle is way above and Samidare is a tad better too but I think it has the best characters, the time progression is especially good too.
I still don't get how Rune spirit traveled into the past.

That's probably why Mizukami force-of-nature'd him. I feel like SY wasn't as tightly planned as the other two, although I get the impression he went off-outline on those a few times.

That's why Mizukami's such a good author. I am seriously looking forward to whatever he comes up with next. I think he's in his mid-30s? He can't make enough money off of niche manga to live as well as he does, unless that house he bought was way out in the country or something.
Here's hoping he keeps getting better all his life.

When Mizukami focuses on how great ordinary life is, it doesn't feel as forced as when other authors do it. One of my favorite moments in everything he's wrote was when Yuuhi was doing shady security work with Crow and he realizes that this is what work is like, this is one of the many kinds of jobs you could have, and now you're here doing it and it's not that bad. We never find out who he was working for or if they were mafia or what, but it's a point where he moves from the childish, imagination-based view of the world as a terrible place that you can't ever really own or own a place in to an adult, experience-based understanding that all that doesn't matter much.

I think it was explained somewhere that reincarnation/path of spirits is like a single river going down stream, but you can climb up out of the river and go backwards.
