It tried to tell an interesting story and It kind of did it well, until he fucked up and went back to the present. The power wasn't explained well and seemed like a way for the author to send him to the past. He should've spent more time explaining that. Hinazuki wasn't supposed to be as important as she appeared was she? I thought she would've had 2-3 episode and then he'd move on to the next victim, but their relationship made me just wanna watch this without the time travel and serial killing. Maybe this was explained better in the manga?

There's a few points. First of all I didn't read the manga but people that did say there are differences, so we have to separate the point of the anime and the point of the manga. Secondly the author didn't have a whole story in mind from the beginning, he made some plot twists as he went so the point might have changed along the way.

Because the story isn't about the fact that he has the power to go back in time, it's about how his ability to go back in time actualyl changed his life. Early on we see that he has this power to save people, however it offers no benefit to him. It's also not the focus of the story. The focus is the power and how it was used to change Satoru's life ultimately, and even then it's only a minor device in the sense that it doesn't show up that often over the course of the story. It's there so that we can get to the story of a man given a second chance at changing the world. Ostensibly it's about helping others and being a hero, but as the final episode makes clear, it's really about making meaningful connections with people. Throughout the story, what saved people was Satoru finally giving a fuck about the people around him, trusting them, and having the courage to build meaningful relationships. In the end it's those relationships that ultimately save him and allow him to grow to be better than he was when he first started, just like the losing hero in the TV program.
Whether Satoru experiences revival again or not is not important to the core drama. They could have made no mention of it again at all and the narrative would be fine. Revival is a device that needs no explanation because those things are for the realm of sci-fi and fantasy worlds. This is normal earth where one person happens to have the ability to rewind time a little and world building elements like in sci-fi or pure fantasy is completely extraneous. From a formal analyisis perspective, revival never occurs again because it doesn't need to occur again. The hero has concluded his adventure and has triumphed in finding a new lease on life.

No one on the ground saw that. All they saw is Satorou's wheelchair being dangled out over the edge by Yashiro right after Satorou had said he will try to kill him in the roof. The fact that the cellphone was shut off and a suicide note was typed out pretty much collaborates Satorou's story of attempted murder. But ultimately, it was less about the evidence but more about Satorou being able to call sensei out. He pretty much nailed his motive, personality and reason of being, and the moment sensei rushed out to save him, sensei lost. Sensei didn't care if he got away with murder at that point, so he probably admitted to it as the price a loser pays for losing.

How do you think it was not self-aware? I thought it took the idea of going back into time with the mentality of an adult in a child's body and executed it quite well. The directing also emphasized a lot of key character interaction moments too with interesting choices of colors and symbolism to help you feel what the characters felt. If you look at it from a lens that it's not a mystery but rather a thriller then it also does an amazing job of that too because it's not a good mystery at all and breaks many basic rules of mystery that all authors normally follow. I think the show understands itself quite well and the director knows how to show that. There are a few cases where the execution fails but it holds up for a vast majority of the show.

Kayo was, from the beginning, a person who Satoru needed to save. He needed the help of his friends and family to do it and there was certainly some childish crushing going on, but in reality their relationship was pretty one sided. Satoru did everything, provided everything, instigated everything.
Saving Kayo enriched Satoru, and changed his whole life, but she herself could have been anyone at all. She could have been a tree stump. She was the damsel in distress that allowed Satoru to engage in his own childish hero fantasy and be the white knight that saves her. She had nothing significant to add to his life after that point.
Airi, on the other hand, from their very first real conversation, was the defining power in Satoru's life. Even before he realized it his whole world had been changed by what she said to him.
The manga did a better job of conveying this honestly. Literally half or more of Airi's content in the manga got cut out of the anime and this makes him meeting her at the end seem like an afterthought, when it really wasn't.

Yeah, in the manga you could tell how much Airi's personality complimented Satoru in many areas which he lacked.
Furthermore, their meeting at the end was great precisely because of the scene some chapters before, in which Satoru had decided not to meet her again in order to protect her.
Him being able to meet Airi several years later is like a reward for all his hard work.
That being said, even though the manga was a lot better, even the manga could have used more development for Airi,
Personally, I would have gone for one more arc, in order to develop her and make it so that the ending had even more impact.
