Seeing stuff like this reminds me that all of the other factions in Horizon are fun and interesting as well.
If anything, I think that's one of the rare things I didn't like about OnC -- the Top Gear faction wasn't really likeable or interesting, and they seemed to exist solely as foils for Team Leviathan.

He needs 3 hits in to win sure, but he uses no weapons or acceleration spells and isn't that far off from a normal person as far as fighting skill. Galileo was practically the perfect person for him to fight since Galileo had no physical fighting prowess and relied on his two spells only. A real opponent with a weapon that has a ranged ability or actual close combat fighting experience is beyond him for now.

It's the difference in who they fight, basically. Futayo fights people who are mostly Vice-Chancellor level, and she's very inexperienced for a Vice-Chancellor, so she does fairly well all things considered.
Noriki's exceptional since he's pretty much at the level of a special duty officer despite being a regular student, but he's not that strong in general. Try imagining him fighting someone like Shibata -- it wouldn't end well.

This. Horizon really leans on you having some basic familiarity with Japanese and European history. For those of us in the West, we'll at least have heard of things like the Protestant Reformation and the Thirty Years War, or people like Louis XIV and Elizabeth I, but not much about Japanese history.
And since the Musashi represents Matsudaira (later Tokugawa) only, it's pretty hard to get the significance of events without knowing Japanese history. Imagine if Horizon was recreating American history -- if the characters were about to recreate the Battle of Gettysburg, Americans would know why that mattered instantly. But when the Battle of Sekigahara gets mentioned, we've got to run to Wikipedia for context.
Since Toori's class is pretty much governing body of Academy and crème de la crème. There they all sorted into it based on ability?
