It's essentially HUEG samurai armor.
Yeah, I know.

>cherry picking

The western mecha is ugly as fuck, thus worse.

shouldn't everyone know that's from macross or something by now?

I'll cut you.

As a kid, I never understood the appeal of giant robots that didn't transform, combine, or do other "robotic" gimmick stuff.
As an adult, I still don't.

>Dirty gaijin Western aesthetics are inferior to Nippon mecha with pretty colors, a plethora of silly weapons like swords or scythes, and even hair!

stop posting this shit bait thread
>>
Why are we responding to this identical thread again

If you didn't sage you're part of the problem. Newfags don't know the 'western' mecha is a fucking Macross Destroid and they fall for it every goddamn time.

The wests fetish for hyper-realism is a cancer. Which would be a legitimate thing to discuss if this weren't the 500th time this bait thread has been posted with the exact same image. Same text even.

I don't know is there a nuke powered robot with fission punches?
>>
Better question - Why did Japan give up on "realistic" mechs?
>>
>>139014301
They're no fun.
>>
Because Japan embraces the notion that mecha are more fantasy than sci-fi
>>
>>139014390
This. If there's one thing mecha understand it's that there's literally no need to marry yourself to real life.

>>139014390
Must mechs run on guts.
>>
>>139014301
Are mechs even realistic in the first place?
They seem completely unnecessary and unconventional when things like tanks, jets, etc can to their job just fine.
>>
>>139014301

They didn't, though.

But can you use an western mecha to storm the battle field while riding your bro in a totally not gay way?

Large mechs like this & realism don't go together. Some are more than others but still.
>>
>>139013180
Why are you posting two Japanese mechs if that's your argument?
The mecha you have labeled "Western" first appeared in the original Macross TV series. Battletech stole it along with several other mecha designs, but back in the 1980s the financial damage from such plagiarism was not considered worth suing over.

Also this thread is a cut and paste of one we just had a couple days ago. Both the photo and OP image are the same, and I think /a/ has rules about that.

>Are mechs even realistic in the first place?
Short answer? No.
A mech is too tall, so it's easier to target. Too heavy, so it can't transverse some terrain easily, like bridges and bogs. That's the same trouble the heavy and super heavy tanks of wwII faced.
