>Devotion beats talent

What a dumb fucking lie. Smile should have won.
>>
>>138993424
smile just didn't want to win.
>>
>>138993424
Peco had both
>>

But that's not what is stated in the show, you fucking retard.
>>
>>138993490
This. Smile was inferior, a mere autist.
>>
>>138993629
>Peco wins

???
>>
Such fantastic last episode.
>>
>>138993424
Meaningful practice is around 20% of how good you are at a certain thing, the percentage depending on what the activity is.

Sorry to burst your little bubble, I know that it's 2016 and the world is in the rabid state of "You can do everything!!!" but truth of the matter is that you can't, some people are better suited for X while others Y, that's all there's to it.
>>
>>138993424
What? Akuma had all the devotion in the world and he couldn't win.
>>
>>138993424
Peco WAS talented. The guy who was all practice and no talent lost.
>>
>>138993424
>>Devotion beats talent
But that's not what happened all you stupid idiot
>>
>>138993996
>Smile
>no talent

Go watch the show again.
>>
>>138993424
What I hate most is seeing cucks like you, who are content getting NTRd by society who tells you what you should be capable of, instead of taking life, your life, on his balls and living everyday the fullest potential and adding a new inch of possibilities everyday for a more fulfilling tomorrow you will not regret.
>>
The guy with no talent and all devotion was Dragon and he got destroyed.
>>
>>138994045
You should at least finish the serie once. Smile had talent but not enough devotion, Peco had both, the guy who had only devotion and hard work lost (Akuma)
>>
>>138993424
>"I can't stand that hard work actually amounts to something!"
>"This makes me feel bad about being a lazy fuck!"

Most people make up shit about 'Natural Talent', being "born with it" and "God-given talent" to cope with the fact that they don't want to admit they didn't work hard enough for their goals. People will make all kinds of excuses for why they never succeeded, except admitting they didn't do enough.

Devotion breeds new talents, that is a fact.
>>
Peco winning with a fucked up foot was a joke.

If Smile had devotion, he wouldn't have ended up as a teacher and pursued his dream. Instead, his dream was just that, a life outside the sport.

Peco wanted to be and became one of the best, because he wanted to and had the talent to make his standings worthwhile.

Do people not watch the show or do they self insert into the autist with glasses and hope he wins?
>>
>>138994454
>because he wanted to
>wanted to
>spends the majority of the show not practicing

tell me again who wanted it more
>>
>>138994260
?

My post was saying that Smile did have talent.
>>
>>138994412
someone with talent who works hard will always be better than someone who just works hard
>>
>>138994573

Peco, seeing as how he pulled himself outta a slump and actually pushed. Do you think he just spent the whole series chasing girls and showed up at the end with a haircut and just swept the floor?
>>
There's people on /a/ dumb enough to not get Ping Pong.
Makes you wonder what kind of shows is simple enough for them.
>>
>>138993890
Are you retarded?
I literally said that devotion beating talent is a fucking lie.
Why do you say the exact same thing as me while saying "sorry to burst your bubble"?

Learn to read, you fucking retard.
>>
>>138994643
>pulled himself outta a slump

guess who didnt go into a slump
guess who practiced the entire time
smile
smile deserved to win at the end. maybe peco was better, but he didnt deserve it
>>
>>138993890
damn I guess you don't have a talent for reading comprehension you dumb motherfucker

Lotta people on /a/ also argue about Dragon Ball power levels, there are tons of threads dedicated to shitty LNs, and most of them were maybe born after 2000 at this point. We live in a day where people want shit spelled out for them in a super direct fashion rather than allowing us to fill in the gaps and understand what they're telling us. It's certainly not the worst thing, but the idea of even a show like Ping Pong somehow goes over people is just downright sad. It's not even deep or has layers, it pretty much visually states a lot of what the characters are doing and feeling.

>Devotion beats talent
Wot. That's not the point of the show.
Talent + hardwork > Hardwork
Hardwork > Talent

If Y is more talented than X, then X can never beat Y given both of them have the same amount of hardwork.

Also, Peco has always been implied of having the best talent among the whole cast, winning shitloads of tourneys in his childhood.
Obaba even told Joe that Peco's talent surpasses Dragon's.

>Peco recruited Smile into his dojo
>Obaba discovered Smile also has a similar talent and polished him
>Peco grew complacent, relying purely on his talent. He got so full of himself, skipped practice, and eventually became worse than Smile
>Akuma has severe astig, thus he can never beat a normal person with normal eyesight no matter how hard he trains.
>>
>>138995076
Pretty much this.

In Dragon's case, he only played for his family and status and didn't have fun with it or wanted to play it in that way for the longest time, By the time he did play it for fun, it was too late for him to win with the skills he had so far.

I don't really care about hard work beating talent. It only started becoming dumb when hard work with a fucked up knee beat talent.
You don't fucking play at a high level with a fucked up knee, that's just not how this shit works.

Do you not get involved with sports or only watch movies pertaining to them? People with torn knees will finish a match before being carried off.

???

>>138993890
Talent is just an excuse.
>It's not that I didn't put enough effort into it, my opponent just had more talent

Sure certain people are better at certain things but you can learn it nonetheless, even if it's harder for you.

>>138994928
And if a show is subtle and has passion in it, it's just pretentious.
Well people just watch anime because they can't handle reality anyways, so why have standards? ;^)
>>
Peco is the most talented though
But hes also a lazy bum. But he still easily beat everyone because he trained like a week

Smile did have talent but peco had much more.
I really wish retards wouldn't watch anime. I mean if anime is too deep for you then you seriously have something wrong with you and should be given disability benefits or something.

Don't forget that he trained with the nip adult representatives since Obaba's son is in charge of the athlete's camp.
That's the best Japan has to offer right there.
>>
>>138995624
They BOTH had devotion and talent, but Peco also had the love of the game in him, something which Smile lost sight of along the way. He managed to get it back eventually, but by then, winning wasn't what was actually important.

Devotion + talent > Devoted but lacking in talent > Talented but lazy

No matter how talented you are, there's only so much you can learn without putting in the time.

The greatet judoka off all time.
there once was a rumour in 1964 that Kimura would coming out of retirement and participate in the olympic games. judokas like isao inukama were scared of that possibility.Because in randori kimura could still easily beat them.
That was when Kimura was 47.
Kimura says most people are stuck were they are because of not properly having the basics down or a bad teacher.Hard work is meaningless if you do it wrong.

>posted from my basement

I've never known anyone who was truly devoted to bettering themselves at a task but was unable to at least become far above average.

Normalfags are un-devoted as fuck. On top of being stupid (or perhaps because they're stupid), they do the bare minimum needed to scrape by. They don't do much of anything to try to stand above the rank and file. Instead, they go home and browse facebook.

Of course, reaching the top 1% world elite in some skill requires talent, but if you're looking to become the biggest fish in a small pond, or if you're looking to become more than competent at some skill, devotion will suffice.

Since plebs misunderstood the show's theme as the merits of hard work and talent. Not surprising though, really.
