It was really only happy in the VN, when they were planning on coming back after they visited their relatives. The manga and anime are not quite as happy, plus the anime overall is darker. Kozue never gets over seeing the twins together, and is left a ruined, emotional mess. Sora's hatred of Nao is taken up to 11, with them never reconciling about what Nao did. Haru is shown to be a bit of a scumbag, including cheating on Nao with Sora, and fucking HITTING his frail, sickly sister across the face, sending her to the ground.
