I read both and I'll say this, Negima is good overall a solid 7 or 8/10 but the quality is very inconsistent. It goes from vey shitty to very good very often and I think Akamatsu was trying to do too much, the world building didn't get used to its full potential. Pactios got used way too conveniently to give some characters relevance, sometimes for unimportant things. Nostalgiafags probably only have the good moments in mind but UQH is much more consistent and got better ever since the Dana arc.

I think Ken hit a block 30 or so chapters back and has been working for the weekend this entire time. Even the plot requires 0 effort on his part because it's drawn using Negima refs and callbacks (which already exist).
Look at some of these older spreads. The pacing was also much much quick in the beginning.

The Kyoto arc was mediocre, and the Eva introduction and underground library arcs leading up to it were pretty bad. Mahora Fest was enjoyable, but the series as a whole didn't really get good until the Magic World arc, which is almost 180 chapters in.
Pre-Magic World Negima is also much more similar to Love Hina than it is to UQ Holder. That isn't a bad thing at all, but they're pretty different types of stories, so it's only natural that some people would prefer one type over the other.

That's writer's block dude. It's really hard to work out the series thematically the way it's set up now. Destroying Negima's influence on the series is a pretty hard setup without pissing people off. Especially with a last boss villain like MotB makes it especially difficult to plan out.
Especially since it seems like Ken wants the Kitty relationship plot to advance and flourish symbiotically with the drama. Which gets even murkier since Yukihime is supposed to be Eva but is drastically different characterization-wise.

This. Negima is one of my favorite manga, but there's a lot of shit in it that was terrible. There are gaps in the Festival and Magic World arc where the pacing slows to a crawl. There was so much shit going on in the latter that the main heroine ended up written out of the story for 100 chapters and her development based on her experience happened off-screen. There's no excuse for that, whether you liked Asuna or not.
And let's not even get into the Sports fest arc near the end. Shittiest arc in all of Negima.

I think it's just a matter of preference. I've always been a fan of intricate linework rather than shading. I've never really liked a lot of shading in manga. Like for instance Dorohedoro is artistically one of my favs.
