Uh what? If that were true Soi Fon would've outright killed Aizen. The Iron Law of reiatsu is true. Yamamoto and Kenpachi might've (might've) had higher reiatsu but not high enough to outright negate Aizen's ability.
Assuming for the sake of argument that Kenpachi and Yamamoto DO have more reiatsu, that puts them on roughly this sort of scale:

That guy, had basically all of Bach's knowledge, this would include all of Bach's knowledge of Yama and his Bankai at the time and all of Bach's skills and non of those worked against Yama.
Even Bach only killed Yama after having taken the bankai away and made sure to get rid of him and even point out that things would have been different if his honour did not prevent him from regaining his strength.
We have to point out that Yama feared the power and effects of ZnT on his surroundings much more than anything else, that is why he rather sacrificed his arm instead of going Bankai agaisnt Aizen (but against Bach he went with that risk).

This has always been how it was, not a retcon at all. Hollow powers are sealed in the sword, ressurrection is releasing the sword, thus resurrection is releasing your hollow powers.
