The biggest flaw of the series is that night raid doesnt actually dress or act like assassins most of the time. They sent Tatsumi to kill his first target by engaging him in a sword fight in an alley, instead of sending someone to poison his food or something.
Most of the assassinations were carried out by night raid bursting in through a window or something and fighting the guards in the target's room like idiots.

At this point whenever something edgy happens, theres no shock anymore, just "Oh I expected that" or a "Oh that's who he's killing off this time". There's no impact to it.
You detach yourself and become less invested in the characters when they could die at any moment. And when you stop caring about the characters you stop caring about the story, which is why everyone is pretty disinterested or dissatisfied with Akame ga Kill right now.

Staying on the subject of Akame ga Kill, anikis death early on served as part of Tatsumis growth as a character. It's a classic trope, the death of a mentor and the struggle to fill their shoes in their place, but it helps give motivation and characterisation. Similarly with Schere with Mine. These deaths were also accepted because they happened early on before we got to know the characters intimately anyway, and was used to help drive home the dark tone the manga was aiming to have.
However, since then it's hard to figure out the narrative relevance of any deaths since then. Chelsea in particular died so quickly after being introduced, you could barely feel sympathetic for her, and her role in the overall story ends up a footnote.

It seems like every single character on all sides of this manga have either rape, genocide, abandonment, emotional abuse, or a combination of as their backstory. As if an Emo High school art student was responsible for everyone's history.
Secondly, I feel like the MC serves no other purpose but to provide commentary to everyone else's story at this point.
The most interesting potential he had for impacting the story was having a mutual relationship with Esdeath. But the author must have felt like that was the worst idea ever because he made the MC make ever dumb decision in the book to ruin that scenario.
At this point Esdeath has been infinity more enjoyable as a character for at least being consistent in her actions and motivations.
And as far as I'm concerned the best Night Raid character now is Leone. But conveniently she has gotten less and less page time.

Akame ga Kill is shit in a way carefully manufactured to sell to dribbling morons incapable of distinguishing cliche from archetype. I read the first volume and it was pathetically bad, but people who genuinely ought to know better have sworn up and down that the anime was actually genuinely good, so I made the mistake of giving it a shot.
They think it's some kind of extraordinary masterpiece made of shining gold when it's really just a poorly executed, schizophrenic mess of genres with horrible characterization. And it tries to go down the done-to-death HUMANS ARE EVIL road, but it forgets all about the word "subtle" and simply smacks you in the face with it.
The actual reason they like Akame ga Kill is because they haven't seen more than 5-10 shows and therefore have nothing to compare it to.
The author has clearly never met a shit fantasy comedy cliche he didn't love, and the anime carefully crammed every single one of them into the episode and a half I managed to survive. Fuck dumb protagonist? Check. Obnoxious airhead materialistic girl? Check. Exposition awkwardly passed off as conversation, half-assed world building, fuck awful comedy jokes, grating presentation.

I got my hopes up when Shura mentioned the unexplored lands beyond the ocean, but now that ship is sale.
The danger beasts, the Teigus and the world building is what it caught my attention at first, too bad Takahiro can't write for shit and just dropped the ball at some point.
It really was terrible in all aspects I honestly can't think of a single thing it actually did right.
The characters are all reduced to what is essentially just an archetype and were only ever given development to try to heighten the impact of their inevitable "shocking" deaths a few panels before. It was nothing but an edgy battle shounen, which can be clearly seen in the fact it revolves around some average kid getting some super cool power and powering it up bit by bit. The only thing that makes it different, and in this case worse, is its obsession with trying to make itself seem mature through its themes. The issue with this is that it tries to present a grey and gray dystopian world, but instead it makes the villains so comically evil that no man opposing them could seem evil, regardless of what they opposes are doing.
It felt like author himself lacked the understanding of where the damn thing goes. No attempts of world building, no attempts to create at least somehow decent characters. Only cliches, asspulls and bad writing. Only newfags could think that blood could cloud how atrocious everything else is. Dogshit manga and even worse audience.
