There's a lot of series where the worldbuilding would be limited in the anime medium, whereas you would learn about the world in the games by interacting with the environment or NPCs. A direct adaptation would be a weaker retelling of the same story no matter how it's done since it's difficult to immerse yourself into the world of a series like LoZ without interacting with the characters. Sure, maybe they could make episodes dedicated to the sidequests and minor characters but who knows if it would work well in an episodic fashion depending on the length of the TV anime. Series with more basic stories or straightforward progression might work better in the transition to anime, like Mario or Fire Emblem. There's also things to consider like how to tell the story with characters like Link, who don't speak directly. Guilty of the exact same thing. Adam was just a computerized overlord instead of a human one. He still ordered Samus around whilst she idolized him. Not to mention that completely out of character moment where she was going to kill herself by crashing the spaceship into the planet and needed Adam to tell her it was a fucking stupid idea and came up with the actual plan to save the day. I don't know why they haven't made a smash bros anime yet. They have a bunch of settings to use, and with the amount of characters in smash, the situations you could write are almost limitless.

Eliwood wasn't bad so much as he had awkward growths. His stat growths ranged from average to above average so good or bad luck dictated how useful your Eliwood was. It was very swingy.
If we're talking bad FE7 units though, Lyn is probably worse. She's decent early on due to her unique weapon but her promotion is literally just a less powerful Swordmaster with bow proficiency. Eliwood's RNG problems aside, his promote has Canto, mounted movement, and the ability to use lances. It's pretty good.
