There's some interesting bits in the minotaur hero fight, like Helck nearly going berserk and trying to pull the Hero Killer sword on him. But this is the really interesting part.
The anger and bloodshed of the war released the seal on the Curse of Darkness that sleeps in the land. The rest is familiar now. But we should be asking, where did the Curse come from, who sealed it, and what goal does it seek?
Rereading the manga, I've noticed that whenever Anne actually smiles, she's also being manically evil like at the very beginning of the manga.

Hercules was not an ideal man because he was flawless and could do no wrong, he was an ideal man because he recognized his failings, genuinely cared about the people around him, felt true sorrow when he lost people important to him, and strove to atone for his sins even when he could have bitched out by pointing out that it was Hera's doing that drove him insane every time.
Hercules could always have just ignored the laws of mankind and refused to be punished like every other demigod. Nobody could have possibly stopped him. The reason he's such an incredible hero is because he accepted humanity's laws and fulfilled his every punishment and penance necessary to prove his desire to right his wrongs.
In this regard, Hercules is a more approachable ideal figure than images like Superman who literally commit no sins and never fail.

She's a witch, and "Helck" is a series that loves to play tropes straight--witches and prophecies are common to fiction.
From what we know from omake and such, it doesn't seem like Vamirio had parents, and instead Azudora played as a kind of surrogate. Considering stuff like familiar scents, feeling nostalgic for the island, etc, it probably means she was born on the island and eventually somehow found her way onto the continent/into the empire.
Witch's hair is curlier, on that note. It also seems to be an entirely different color.

A lot of stuff seems to be tied back to the Curse of Darkness, aka the Hero Awakening. The Empire seems to be special in that the Curse doesn't just empower stray individuals, but is actively blighting the land and spawning monsters and continually draining strength from anyone outside protective barriers.
From Azudora's comments and Vermirio's surprise at seeing its effects elsewhere, it might be that the Empire's primary reason for existing is to act as guardians that keep the Curse blight from spreading. If enough of their wards are destroyed then the entire planet will be consumed and it'll be terraformed into a New World.
This might have someone to do with the human conspirator's comments about turning the world back the way it's supposed to be. Maybe they mean "ruled by humans" or maybe they consider the Curse blight the natural state and want to deliberately unleash it. Maybe that's the "true peace" they keep going on about.

Well, the curse hasn't really affected any demons. The crazy demons Cless and his party met were probably forcefully awakened by Mikaros.
The minotaur kingdom had the curse problem too, but their people managed to completely seal it. I don't think Vermirio are surprised to see it elsewhere (they didn't see it, did they? They were just surprised that the New World Organisms showed up elsewhere after hearing about it) because they're guardians, but because they thought the curse was limited to them/did not connect that with the phenomena of awakening before (with Vermirio probablymaking the connection after meeting multiple examples and getting Helck's backstory).
What happened to the tribesmen, the minotaurs, the humans; the curse appeared in different ways. The tribesmen were few and weak; we can probably assume the curse rose up to empower them recently in their history. The minotaurs had completely sealed their curse, but unleashed it again to use as a weapon. Then the humans had the curse periodically appear among individuals in their kingdom, the hero and the king. Lastly, the demons don't have anyone mutating from the curse, but their land is completely blighted. They're all probably dealing with the curse in different ways according to their culture.

That can't be the whole story. The Empire is a union of 15 different kingdoms. There had to be something that forced them to unite under the dragon emperor's leadership.

Seriously it's a huge surprise how competent this manga is put together. Seriously everything has been foreshadowed either in the character dialog and body language, and with a pace brisk enough to quickly reward those who notice the clues to the next plot point.
Basically what another anon said about watching videos of a guy who committed suicide. All the signs are there.
Also really do not want time travel. It's the one plot device used the most poorly and often times it'd be much easier to use any other device than time travel, considering how inconsistent it's applied in media.
