I unironically believe a lot of story creators can take a lot from MM. A lot of things happened off screen, that the protagonist was not a part of but were important, like the stalker getting caught or Kansai and Loli's fight, and Molester didn't hear about them until afterwards. And character interactions were imperfect, they would do or say things that were not ideal but were not presented as monsters, or had those flaws drawn out and openly mocked. Weird but believable situations were allowed to happen, none of it felt contrived. It was the sort of thing you don't normally get because it was based on a true story. Those details really add to characters' believability.
