I cant seem to convince my freind that streaming is trash compared to torrenting. he streams on a surface and I 1080p torrent full seasons of shows we both watch and organize them all on an external HDD. who is doing it wrong?

First, I'd like to comment that if you're watching things in 1080p, it better be on a large television. Secondly, most 1080p pre-dvd releases are just upscales.
As far as trying to convince your friend to see the light, most streams will only get up to 720p if they're lucky. Aside from the fact that loading videos can be troublesome, and not all websites will have what you're looking for, what do you do when the power's out? If your friend is concerned about legality, the sites streaming are even more at risk than someone torrenting an anime. If he's that paranoid, he can delete them when he finishes.
Streaming would be fine if:
a. it were actually at a decent quality. But we're getting there
b. content would be guaranteed to be always up
I fear the day when I won't be able to find what I can find now. Streaming doesn't allow you to archive.

Is it worth it to get 1080 for TV anime though? Isn't 1080p just upscales?
