I said that Achiga was the team of the main characters and they had to pass. I know that they are strong (they did beat Bansei, 9 of 10 second placed schools in the preparation and the schools in the first rounds of the National tournament without problems). Against strong teams they didn't fare as well: They lost to Ryuumonbuchi in the preparation and to Senriyama in the quarterfinal by a large margin. There is a difference to the semifinal where Achiga and Senriyama played against stronger teams: Senriyama did less well (by a large margin) but Achiga did better than expected, mainly because Shiraitodai except Teru was underwhelming and Senriyama was gimped (Toki went full retard against Teru, Izumi was hit hard by Sumire while Yuu was safe, FunaQ was too distracted by the new data, Ryuuka did nothing and had to be helped by Toki's tulpa).
