Character and manga popularity polls as well as sales provide a look ate elevens' taste.
By no means is it a generalization but shitty battle harem LNs, manga and anime are more popular than some more interesting and original ideas.
However because we only see these figures its easier to call them out collectively.
If you saw /a/' taste like that you might as well call them out.
As whether a manga or anime you like gets another season or continues to run depends on it's sales, and the deciding market for that is Japan's you may get angry at them if they dont allow for s2.
The same could be said for getting angry at other anons that insult a show you like, its only natural to defend what you like.
In the end everyone taste's is different and that isnt a bad thing.

The fact that GX sold like hotcakes is an example. I like sapphogay more than I'd like to admit, but those sales should've happened during season 1 and to a lesser extent G. At least it gets us more in the future I guess.
