Okay, so if I'm getting this straight.

Taichi is completely unlikable. Self-doubt is one thing, but he was borderline retarded here. More people would have died if he didn't fight. Not only that, most areas he fought in were evacuated. He just stood there moaning and having flashbacks of the same goddamn scene and ignoring everyone who spoke to him, including Agumon. Yes, people change. No, people don't lose all character development for no reason. They've battled in cities before, it never made a difference there. And not only that, Taichi remains indecisive at the very end. I wouldn't be able to take 4 or 5 more movies of this.
The whole love triangle between Taichi, Yamato, and Sora makes no sense either. According to the original director what's-his-face, Taichi and Sora didn't have a thing in the first place, and it was just added to Our War Game which had Hosoda as a director (frankly, he should have directed tri. as well). Why is Sora so indecisive when it seemed like she had settled for Yamato back in 02? And speaking of love triangles, this is actually a "It goes both ways" sort of thing, because there was so much homo in this movie, so many tense glares between Taichi and Yamato, so much physical contact, so much focus on the two of them, I could swear they were actually gay.
The battles were just music and sound effects with characters making faces but no sounds. No cheering, no grunts, nothing, just constant changing expressions and flashing back to the characters because they need to make a face. No dialogue from Omegamon or Alphamon either. The subs were also kinda shitty at points.

It's because Tri was originally intended as a weekly anime before they changed it and turned it into 6 movies worth about two cours number of episodes.

In fact it actually started showing the seeds of the diplomatic ambassador he'll supposedly become in the future, he started to think beyond beating the bad guys and looking at the whole scenario. He's still wrong in freezing with his doubts in the heat of battle but that's what Yamato is there for.
Taichi will learn to carry that weight as also start fighting to pursue the scenario where more people can be safe and happy instead of just wishing for it.
