I love that show very much, have been cheering for it since before the first episode aired. Love the style, the presentation and the energy, the fine balance between humour and darker themes.

Ichi is some old guy TV personality.
Same with Oso, he's some TV character.
Choro (the student) is a reference to a character in a Fujio Fujiko manga (one in the samurai Doraemon manga).

Its comedy seems so genuine. Not so say the interactions are realistic or anything stupid but it smacks of a couple or writers in a room actually having fun and joking about with a minimal of self censure.
Obviously they're professional so they don't just put anything in but they, at least feel, like if they think it's funny then it's fine.
It's like the opposite of by committee. It feels weird and plenty of the jokes suck but there's a personality behind the comedy. It's not a show that will pull something back because the audience mightn't like it. They just have fun and put it out there.
