It's kinda weird because I always thought that she played with fingers from what I saw in the anime. But then in the movie she clearly plays all the songs with a pick. And then if you take a look at her trivia in the K-On wiki it says there that she plays with a pick. Also I think that a pick strumming suit HTT's songs better.

If you don't already have them, go download Led Zeppelin II and Abbey Road by The Beatles. Learn those two albums and the major and minor scales and you'll be 95% of the way towards being a competent pop/rock bass guitarist. There's nobody better at producing simple but effective basslines that perfectly fit the song than John Paul Jones and Paul McCartney.

I don't get it, you mean my dominant hand? the strumming one? because that's the one I'm having problems with right now. If that's what you mean, I play electric guitar, mostly rock and stuff so I really rarely do fingering style plucking. I remember getting a blister on my thumb when I was learning some classical songs though. If you mean my left hand, the non dominant one, yeah, I do have calluses on it. I remember getting my index all fucked up with cuts because of David Gilmour's bends, so it eventually got resistant. I guess that's why I'm not having any problems with it, even though the bass strings are much rougher. My right hand, on the other hand.. (pun intended)

You shouldn't be using your index finger for string bending too often unless you're doing Jeff Beck style pull-off-to-bends or something. There's no finger behind it to anchor the bend with; it's the weakest string bending finger.

I did that once. It hasn't moved since. It's pretty easy on a tune-o-matic. Actually put in string saver saddles myself too, like 10 years ago. They're still not breaking strings.

I started off playing bass guitar, and holding a note on bass is much easier than on a regular six string because the string is so much thicker. You can play bass without calluses if you're not a pussy, and a little girl that has built up calluses could hold notes just fine.
