Mixing in Fubuki-special, random ahistorical shit, and SoL hijinks doomed that to failure from the start. Not that I don't love SoL hijinks, but mixing those into a war drama (or mixing a war drama into people's SoL hijinks) is a recipe for instant disaster.

The problem is that its like they never decided what the show was going to be about. You have comedy elements, but its not a comedy. Action scenes, but its not an action show. You have war drama and SoL, but its not that kind of thing either. It´s a little bit of everything and nothing at all. We have huge drama following Kisaragi´s death, but its followed by COOKING TIME. I´d have been fine if the show was about Fubuki eventually leading a ragtag fleet of huge egos and whatnot into victory. I´d been fine if we had GuP with shipgirls, but we didn´t get even that.
Kancolle´s premise is not more ridiculous than GuP, yet GuP is a good show and this is not. Such a waste.
