What happens when all the fansub groups grow old/tired and quit and no one replaces them?

You learn moon

We learn moon.

Fool. There will always be a new group ready to replace the others. And it will be every bit as shit as the previous one.
So it has been; so it shall forever be.
We torrent Horriblesubs.

I always wondered what made these groups sub when they understand it just fine and don't really need to do it. It's working for no profit. They do it for free too.

google translate subs

>no profit
Nobody told Commie devs.
Everyone will just use HS and the stigma of using them will fade away as older anons do.
>>119098766
There will always be a replacement. Japanese isn't dying any time soon.
>>119098766
Someone will replace them. There is always someone hungry for attention.

the stigma is already gone. 90% of people here watch HS and no one seems to have a problem with it. when someone says "I'm waiting for [fansub group] release", the response is "lol just DL HS" or ">[fansub group], enjoy your meme subs".
I don't understand why it has happened but it has. HS/CR is just as bad as using VLC, yet /a/ is still autistic about VLC last time I checked.
>>119099354
VLC stigma, as well as CR stigma, has been going down recently.
This is a disturbing trend.
By now my backlog is so long that I could just live off the stuff I've downloaded and not watch any more recent anime. In fact that's basically what I'm doing at this point.
>>119099354
It's because /a/ still keeps up the VLC meme sometimes, and switching to MPC-HC is easier than waiting for non-HS/CR
>>119099354
I actually might consider using HS if they actually subbed OP/ED and the video didn't look like ass half the time.

Anon starts a sub group andgives up after one episode.
we are at a point where most currently airing shows are licenced to a streaming website. therefore if fansubbing dies, everyone will just have to switch over to those streaming sites, or DL stream rips from HS.
Also FYI, CR is going to try to hammer down on HS this year, at least according to a CR marketing manager I am friends with. I don't know if it will be successful but CR needs to start making more money and HS is taking a lot of that away now that nyaa and HS are really mainstream these days.
