Not very creepy, but little fun fact: in an earlier draft of Beauty and the Beast, there was going to be a character that was an enchanted music box. It would've served as Belle's close friend and confidant. It was going to be a mute character, and the only one of the enchanted objects to not originally be human.

It kind of raises the question of what was going to happen at the end of the film when the other objects turned human again.

The music box character was cut after the boy that played Chip the teacup, who was originally only going to have one line, was such a hit with the filmmakers that they decided to expand his role, and they decided they really didn't need both cute childlike characters.

It seems like it was trying to fit together with treasure planet and Atlantis

They had a dark and edgy kind of tone, which I could see this movie having. Treasure planet and Atlantis really are weird in the sense they're so out of place.
It sucks that Disney won't even do traditional animation anymore, except Winnie the Pooh from 2011 which was amazing

Disney will ban you from every single park if you decide to explore an abandoned attraction or park. The one in the video is some old water park. It had a pool that used fresh water, which eventually resulted in a child contracting some disease that killed him. The park was closed afterwards due to the fact that it wasn't profitable enough.

Ok so I have a good one. I was at Disneyland with my family when I was about 15. Was already pretty tall for my age. Anyways we went to ride on Big Thunder Mountain. Right before one of the drops I cracked my head on a stalagmite, blood gushing everywhere, it was pretty bad. As soon as we go to get off the ride security is already there waiting and they grab me and my family and take us to the medical office. They treated me, even stitched me up, wasn't half bad. But they wouldn't let us leave. Waited like 20 minutes, my mom was pissed. Than the lawyers showed up. They forced us to sign a contract stating that we could not make any ill claims or attempt to sue Disneyland for what happened, otherwise we would be perma banned from there and they would come after us for vandalism and defamation. They literally had five scary as fuck dudes in suits making all sorts of claims if we didn't sign the paperwork. Naturally we wdre already tired, hurt, hungry, so we signed the papers. They actually gave us free tickets to come back whenever we wanted but escorted us out for the day.
Well about two years ago I had a friend who hurt her neck on some ride at California Adventure. They tried to keep her there to sign the papers before she could go to the hospital. Still didnt sign them. She attempted to sue them but Disney got her on a plea deal to drop all charges, otherwise they would have gotten her for several thousand. She is perma banned from mouschwitz now.

I did go to the Disney in Florida when young. Only one thing weird happened, felt fine all day then we get to Epcot center and something in the air made me sick, had to stick my head in the trash can to throw up, which sucked. I just know it was something in the air, not sure why I felt that.

I have few memories from going to Disneyworld, like when I went it was when they were first opening MGM Studios section of the park, and IIRC they were using the carousel design for attractions all over the park, we even ate at a restaurant that was an actively spinning carousel with a lazy river motif(?), they probably learned there lesson after the poor girl got crushed

In the second thread, one of the guys remarks about Imagineers being weird and how "even an official Walt bio sold in the parks admits he'd pay for their weed," which I find super intriguing. Just finished Neal Gabler's biography of him and there was no mention of anything like that so far as I recall, and I can't dig anything up online. If anyone knows the biography or author in question being referred to and wants to let me know... haha
>>
>>17617368
>MGM Studios theme park

Yes, that's one of four theme parks at Walt Disney World, and not a "section of the park".

>"carousel design for attractions"

You mean like universal designs for attractions, or some shit?

When the Studios opened in 1989, it only had a few rides, and they were all unique from previous attractions throughout the Disney theme parks.

>we even ate at a restaurant that was an actively spinning carousel with a lazy river motif(?)

That sounds like the Grille Room over at the Land in Epcot. The entire restaurant is on a very slowly revolving turntable. It's extremely safe and other restaurants have used that concept.

As far as the "lazy river motif," if you are talking about the restaurant, that "lazy river" is the Living with the Land boat ride on the lower floor of the building. People eating in the restaurant can look down and see a few scenes from the ride.

>"they probably learned there lesson after the poor girl got crushed"

You've got no idea what the hell you're talking about.

Not only can you not type clearly, but you're basically spreading disinformation and complete lies based on your "few memories from going to Disneyworld."

>other than smell dispensers, disneyland uses binaural audio to control crowds and their moods

Are you acting as if there is menace behind this? Disney employees will straight up tell you this. When I was in highschool on an orchestra trip, a guide was telling us about smell dispensers (some are no longer used, such as the orange blossom ones in Soaring Over California) and how binaural audio is used to deliver music in the different areas in the park. Best example of this are the positioning of the hidden speakers, and the volume control. For example, when the barber shop guys come out on Main Street, the audio is dimmed a lot. The scheduling in Disneyland for their performances are that tight, and you have all kinds of these performances going on all over the park. If there is anything paranormal going, its the wizardry of Disney's audio guys in the park.

Tldr: Disneyland uses all this shit because it is a theme park; the smell dispensers and use of binaural audio is all atmospheric. Nothing menacing.
>>

On space mountain my sister got "knocked out" she was 16, I was 8. She usually didn't like roller coasters. But she had been on space mountain before and was fine. Now, the knocked out part. My sister claims she saw something move above the track, the ride is dark, so, maybe? And claims it hit her head when we went past it. She said it felt like skin hit her. She said it was a dark humanoid type thing with yellow eyes. She said it was like a small child. but said it was too dark to see. When she "hit" it she passed out until the end of the ride. We thought that she passed out because she didn't like roller coasters, and that's what I thought happened. She after about a month started not believing what she thought happened actually happened. And never really spoke about it again. It wasn't until I was thirteen and got into creepy pastas that I started believing her, even if she didn't. I read that one (if I remember correctly) about the small world ride stopping and people seing children on the ceiling or something? Anyway. I go to Disney pretty much every year, but since then, I never go on space mountain.

That's my creepy Disney experience

Not creepy, but one time waiting for the Haunted Mansion we saw a woman in line ahead of us punch her kid. Disney is a really fucking skeezy company, and their legal guys are shysters. My dad's in the movie biz and on multiple occasions has had to file disputes through the union to get Disney to pay him for work he did.

Speaking of Disney and my dad, that reminds me of how weird I find it that there's basically nothing on the internet about Walt being a pedo. I can't say for sure if it's true or not, but when my dad was first starting out in the industry, in the early '80s, a lot of the older guys had been there since the '50s and had worked with Walt, and a lot of them had stories about Walt creeping on kids and stuff.

>>17618982
Space Mountain in Florida is a very close quarters ride, and riders are literally inches away from the structures that make up the ride. That's why it's pitch black throughout. Though if your eyes are good at adapting to darkness, you can make out all of the cross beams as you're riding. It's very possible that she did hit her head on a beam or part of the ride that became loose, or something similar. The "yellow eyes" could have just been the simulated stars, and the suddenness of her getting KO'ed led her to visualize them as eyes once she came too.

There's probably nothing special about it. It's an exclusive vip Disney club that costs a ridiculous amount of money to join and retain membership, I think millions of dollars or something, and there's like a 20 year waiting list. The entrance to their club rooms are located on Disney property behind doors marked with a 33. They look like regular prop doors built into the scenery that shouldn't go anywhere. The club exists but whatever goes on there is secret. I think members probably sign a nondisclosure form before joining or something. So naturally people make up crazy shit going on in there like child prostitution.

Basically, people would wait until the end of the day and do it on their favorite ride, or somewhere really scenic like over by (bear with me, I'm not 100% sure of the name) Thunder Mountain. Usually hanging or slitting of the wrist. Obviously hanging yourself on a ride wouldn't work. Sometimes they were found right away, sometimes it would be a few days.

Its not millions to get in, its $10,000 to get on a waiting list, up to 2 year to get accepted. $2,000 to renew your attained membership annually. the entrance is by the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean.

The only cool things are that you have to be semi 'important'- celebrity, person of power, somehow significant, so some jackass that just won the lottery wouldnt be approved. He'd get his money back for applying though.

Youd get to occasionally see celebrities or whoever and i think bring up to 8 non member guests with you, so if you get invited its be a good idea to go.

Its not 'that' secret, holly madison recently took some pics of her trip there and posted them on her instagram.

I dont think you can just photograph whatever though, seems to only allow tight shots of people in desegnated areas.

>>17608957
>>17609779
STRONGLY agree. I miss traditional/2d animation so much.

Other studios have put out beautiful stuff like Secret of Kells and that's a good thing, but I miss Disney's glory days. 3d feels hollow for me. I remember seeing the storyboard peeks for Tangled back in like 2006 and how it was originally intended to be 2d. Would have been quite cool, judging from the original illustrations.

Nobody knows, some think it was about sex slavery and some think she was chosen as some sort of Satanic sacrifice. It's all hearsay and rumours.

The fact that they withheld information from the Federal investigators and that the investigators accepted that tells us a lot about the power the mouse wields though.

I feel sorry for the family more than anything though.

I've heard three different stories about the Cult of Disney.
One is that it's a suicide cult, members commit suicide at the park so that they can be "reborn in the image of Disney" as future characters or some whackey shit.
The second one is that it consists of very-high ranking members of Disney's staff and are capable of some very dark shit. They've even had people killed.
The more believable one is it has to do with the "Disney Youth", their child stars. Disney basicly owns these people, brain washes them to the perfect stars, and even implace a psychological "self-destruct" so that after their contracts end or are discontinued they go into a mental breakdown.

yeah, it's the most unbelievable one but according to four of my friends who work there they have a surge of deaths or "accidents" every year around the same time. I love Disneyland and the animation studios.
>>
I used to be a runner (basically a courier but with some office assistant stuff mixed in) for an ad agency that did a lot of movie trailers etc. We didn't do a ton of work for Disney, but I had occasion to go to their less-public facilities a few times, and it was always weird. Their security is much higher than other studios, and everybody has a really weird stand-offish attitude. Their security people would always make a point of telling me exactly where to go and warning me that I shouldn't deviate from that path, and that I should get in and out as quickly as possible. They also had a weird dress code, like specific rules that said women had to wear skirts of a certain length and certain heels, and that always felt really out of place in Hollywood too.

The insides of the buildings are strange as well, really sterile and empty with each little section accessed through a secure door from a blank hallway, unlike other studios that are full of clutter and memorabilia and which usually have open plan offices.

Now, I never saw anything spooky, and I can understand that there are a lot of nutjobs that are obsessed with Disney and might try to sneak in or steal pre-release material, but it always really rubbed me the wrong way. I've never felt so much like an outsider who wasn't supposed to be somewhere, except maybe the few times I've had business on military bases.
>>
My cousin who hated Disneyland got a job there as an ice cream vendor. We used to talk all the time and hang out. I was probably closer to her than my own siblings.

When she told me she got a job there I just kind of jokingly rolled my eyes and she was like "I know I know, it's just a summer gig until I go back to college. A job is a job..blah blah blah..."

2 years later, still working there for minimum wage and doesn't return my phone calls/texts.

Just to add to this, it's not uncommon at all to use certain audio to directly influence crowd mood and behavior, too. I heard an interview on NPR recently with somebody who specializes in exactly that, and designs ambient sound and scent setups for stores. It's really interesting how much research and science goes into it, and there isn't really anything sinister about it. (Aside, maybe, from being a little creeped at how businesses are trying to subliminally influence us into buying more of their shit.)

>>
>>17622044
I went there again just last week. Trust me, the dispensers, at least in Soaring over, were taken out. Im sure the ones in the park are still working.
>>17622182
Yep, only thing sinister is the business side of things, but with the parks its really just atmospheric. You said it better than I did about all the research that goes into it.

Personally, I'm more a fan of theories regarding the positive side of Disney. Alan Moore talks a lot about art as magic, and Disney is a great example of that. Scummy business practices aside, their artists and employees really have created a crazy empire, and the power they have over people with their creations is interesting to say the least. A good example of this are their fireworks show, especially their newest one they have going in the Disneyland Park. Its insane how much work those guys do, and I find it much more entertaining to praise those people who make the magic happen than to criticize them.

This is /x/ after all tho.

Probably not 'Cult' in the sense that you're thinking of it, but in Neal Gabler's Disney biography he refers to the 'Cult' of Disney because, at least under Walt, they had a magnetic, charming leader who basically was an unforgiving taskmaster and forced people to work incredibly hard.

In Gabler's opinion, at least, the early days saw Disney run more like a cult, with Walt taking on the role of the magnetic personality drawing people in, especially because the individual contributions of artists and writers were all dwarfed under the umbrella of 'Disney' and put out under 'Walt Disney's' name.

Massively oversimplified, but...

everyone claims disneyland s haunted
i used to work there and heard that mickeys house had an infamous child ghost who was terminally ill and visited the park often during his final hours and loved mickeys house. Some cast members have claimed doors will shut on their own all the time.

People dump ashes of dead loved ones every so often and haunted mansion is the number one place for them to do it. Disney has hazmat people come in and clean it

The park is pretty creepy at night (after close) and early morning before sunrise but its also peaceful with the music playing and seeing it empty for once. There are always people working though so youre never too far from someone even if you dont see anyone. Im sure if you screamed or something someone would go see whats going on.

of paranormal things? not really. just the typically walking alone at night and you think you hear a noise type of stuff. There is a bird in the jungle cruise queue that will never shut up. Even when all the audio is turned off for it that bird will still make noise.

theres creepy guests all over lol
i used to work the jungle cruise and thunder mountain (once it reopened in 2014) i went on what we called safaris in the jungle by myself. When i hired in the rules were you were supposed to be with a lead to go on safari since too many skippers messed with botes going around the jungle. There were certain leads who would let you go out on your own. Those animals and dancing natives are pretty creepy up close. Also pretty scary when you hear leaves and bushes moving when youre there alone at night same thing walking around thunder mountain after close but that was mandatory. 2 closers walk the track in opposite directions for lost and found and one watches them from tower. I couldve sworn i heard footsteps sometimes. I remember the first time i ran into the custodial guy who walks the track to clean up after closing. I heard footsteps and didnt think anyone else would be there since its closed off and strarted getting pretty scared. i was relieved to see it was a real person and not a ghost or something

My mom was snow white in her 20's. Said Walt had a meeting at club 33 with all the princesses to discuss their dreams of the future. He mentioned a serious interest in cryogenics. I'd never heard my mom use a word like "cryogenics" before.

A girl in one of my college classes said she tried out for the job of being Belle in the park just for fun, but ended up getting hired. She spent a summer working there. The only interesting thing she said was that there were underground tunnels that could take you anywhere in the park pretty quickly that only certain employees could use. That, and sometimes she'd see another angry costumed Disney character in the tunnels trying to sneak a smoke break in.

They usually have a prix fixe menu with wine pairings for about $75, and you need an invite from a member to go. You can also order a la carte, if you want. The steaks are delicious.

The door is nondescript by the Pirates and French Quarters; the restaurant is upstairs and likely shares a galley with the Blue Bayou.

>>
>>17625419
It's actually not uncommon to do it this way, you see the same thing at hotels that have multiple restaurants.

The quality of the higher-dollar food comes more from the menu that the head chef comes up with and the ingredients they use to make the food, not really from the kitchen itself, so you can be reasonably assured that you're getting something better than what you'd get at the Blue Bayou.
>>

I mean, yes, but it isn't as mystical as you might make out. What I am talking about is the positioning of speakers throughout the park that are picked up by your both your ears (certain sounds in one ear, etc.) create a unique audio texture.

Binaural audio is most familiar to people on /x/ through binaural beats, which is when one frequency is played in one ear, and another one in the other, to create a unique third frequency, or "beat." Disney uses binaural audio in the way its speakers are set up throughout the park, and how they create their atmosphere, but it is not through any mystical or menacing ways, and its not through binaural beats.

I hope my explanation wasnt too horrible, it's late.

Sadly (or maybe not so sadly) no, just a weird vibe about the place, like everything was too controlled, too perfect, too much security etc. I went to Fox, Sony, Universal, etc. all the time, and sure I had to check in with security and stuff (on a side note I once fell down the stairs at Fox's HQ, AKA Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard, and landed on my feet somehow, to the amazement of bystanders), and none of them were ever comparable to how strange Disney's Burbank studios were.

My Dad works for a clean energy company, and at one point Disney was very, let me say very interested in partnering with them. He went on countless trips down to disney, they were going to put a part about them in their circle of life ride, advertise how "green" and environmentally conscious Disney was etc. One day I was with my dad in the car and he was telling me about his trip, and was talking about how one the Disney execs took him into some swanky club to have a drink and smoke.

i agree with the armoury. That sounds like a smart idea as disney world would be a prime target to shoot up providing you can get guns through security.

Epic Mickey could've been one hell of a grimdark game.

>On August 14, 1979, a 31-year-old woman became ill after riding Space Mountain. At the unload area, she was unable to exit the vehicle. Although employees told her to stay seated while the vehicle was removed from the track, other ride operators did not realize that her vehicle was supposed to be removed and sent her through the ride a second time. She arrived at the unloading zone semi-conscious. The victim was subsequently taken to Palm Harbor Hospital where she remained in a coma and died one week later. The coroner's report attributed the death to natural causes: a heart tumor had dislodged and entered her brain. A subsequent lawsuit against the park was dismissed

>sent her through the ride a second time

Holy cow. The "belong down there" part spooked me. The anon mentions that twice, then cm's bf tells her he has dreams about wanting to be down there, but being scared. Like he belongs down there, real spooks, great script maybe. Respect and love and peace to all disney ghosts out there too.
