So what's the name of the series that starts all the Crossed stuff?

Is it the Badlands one or does each series have it's own little starting point?
>>
>>17529761
> It Starts with Crossed (Volume 1), Not actually sure if it had a proper title (some of them don't.)

There are total 4 main Volumes:
Crossed
Crossed: Family Values
Crossed: Psychopath
Crossed: Badlands which are about 18 Volumes of Short 2-7 Issue comics, such as the one with Edmund here.

There is also Crossed: "Wish You Were Here" which was the weekly free comic they posted on their site that ended up becoming pretty neat.

Crossed +100: Which takes place 100 years after the Crossed first appeared.

Crossed: Dead or Alive (I haven't exported those yet so ???)

I mean, Crossed is literally trainwreck: the comic. Like teleevangelists or those drama shows about HE TOOK DEM CRACKS AND GABE THEM TO OUR BABBY AND THEN DEY HAD SEX ON IT!
>>
>>17530380
You know that not everything has to be deep and meaningful, right, you pretentious piece of shit?

It was filling a niche in the art world that had yet to be filled, and that niche was humans doin' real horrible shit to each other for virtually no reason in serial comic-form.

Having said that, yes, it's shallow as fuck and has no real merit, but nobody's trying to claim that it's classic literature, you autistic dongle.
>>
>>17530380
Have to agree with >>17530476 here. It's just meant to be fun, nothing deep or serious. It would have to be presented entirely differently if it were meant to be anything genuinely philosophical.

>>
>>17530380
Cannibal Holocaust was high theater fuckface, in that the film crew were the true cannibals, feeding on people for their personal gain.
Are you really too stupid to see any merit in Crossed's interpretation of our current social hedonism gone wild?
>>
>>17530849
>I can't understand the art so it is bad art
What I am telling you m8 is that no one actually gives half a flying fuck if you don't appreciate these comics, so stop shouting your opinion from the rooftops as no one values what you have to say, nor do you have to say something.
>doesn't reflect society at all
Okay, because it is totally not talking about the violent, random, and emotional nature of human beings, and how we must strive to be civilised in an age where all factors appear to be pushing for a regression, because were we to regress we could expect images such as this to become a reality. Just shut the fuck up, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if you don't see it, no one is forcing you to comment and get buttmad about it, just accept that it is not to YOUR tastes, not that it is an empirically bad piece of work.
>>
>>17530380
>start exploring what the Crossed really were

Why does that matter? So they can figure it out? Beat it? The point of the comic comletely flew over your head.

Stick to CW shows - they keep the plot front and center for ya.
>>
>>17530872
So why not review something that actually matters in a forum where people actuay care about your input instead of flaming autists on an anonymous image board?
I can enough to respond obviously, but I am in no way debating any points you have made about the art, because how can I? art is what you make of it you homosexual, just let others enjoy it, or place a review in the proper channels if you truly feel an overwhelming need to critisise the authors.
>I don't see your interpretation of the story
>therefore the story is bad
>I (the only one hating it ITT) am certainly not the problem here
Good on m8, looks really smart when you put it that way.
>skills at literary criticism
Kek bro, English and Arts major btw, and now you sit here attacking the premise and subtext of a comic you misinterpret without providing any evidence of an error on the authors part which has lead to the way you see this art. You need to get a grip, and unless you feel like writing an essay highlighting the points in this work you feel to be flawed in working towards the end goals you have specified, I don't see how it can ever be bad art empirically. Maybe the author wanted what you are saying he has presented, and I am misinterpreting it? what then?
You are the equivalent of a gay guy hating on the Mona Lisa because you don't like women. Attack the tecnique, not the piece fuckface, and people like you are why the crossed remain undefined, as the author is now in no way "wrong" by simply presenting a thought experiment.
>>
>>17530890
>totally unable to emotionally interpret raw data
So do you hate all art, or just visual arts?
The entire point of art is that it evokes a set of emotions or ideas within the onlooker, so wandering around telling people their reaction is "wrong" or "simple" is somewhat reflecting of who the true simpleton is.
As such, I have come to the conclusion from seeing your responces, that you are either somewhere on the autism spectrum and highly intelligent, or actually an idiot with a thesorus masquerading as an art critic.
Art is ideally meant to be devoid of science in my opinion, as science can be disproven and flawed, where art cannot.
Already answered you once, but this is just triggering me so hard I had to again.
You need to learn to understand other peoples point of view, and that is the beauty of things like art, as it allows a middle ground in which two vastly different groups can get a sense of the others outlook, either through the creation or review of said art.
>>
>>17530890
>This is, in fact, what makes for most of the better stories in human history.

Not really. Greek classics never explained how the gods worked. You just had to deal with them. Shakespeare never went into long expositions on witchcraft for Macbeth. The monolith in 2001 doesn't get a functional explanation. This type of autismal "It has to have a rational way of working" is for the Lorres of the world. Just accept that it happened, and this is what it does.

>Alan Moore is even intending to do a small series of "Crossed" comics exploring what the situation turns into in a century.
He already did, and it NEVER explains where the Crossed come from or how it works.

>That's what Crossed is about.
Exactly. Now go re-read that quote and tell me where it says it's important to know what the Crossed are or how it works. Go on.

Crossed were character studies. How does a psychopath deal? How does a coward? An isolated family? It was never NEVER about the plot, or "solving" the Crossed.
>>
>>17530911
>>17530913
See this, I honestly don't care if you think it sucks, but at least realise that the reasons you are giving are laughably simple, and on par with the Mona Lisa example.
You have a right to like or dislike whayever you want, and that is great, it helps me and the rest of the world understand and empathise with your position and outlook, however your reasons for liking or disliking a piece of work do not nessasarily make a piece of work BAD, just not in your taste.
I can understand that you not like chaos, or the seeming lack of reason to these books, and that is your taste, but I do. I enjoy a blank canvas in at art gallery, I am that guy that likes to be reminded of the beauty of the systems inplace by seeing examples of what happens when it is non-existent.
Rather than arguing that I was somehow born broken, don't you think it would be more constructive to critique the author/artists techniques?
>>
>>17530905
>Kek bro, English and Arts major btw
Weren't you a physics major ten threads ago, when you were explaining to people about how you don't know jack shit about physics, either?
>>
>>17530926
Listen to paper planes, this was a song about immigrants attempting to live in a new country, which had massive success as a totally misinterpreted song about crime. Is this "bad music" in your opinion? because the goal at the outset of the artists journey was not achieved or percieved by the viewers?
Get a grip, art is influeced more by the onlookers than any artist, and try as they might, sometimes artists get famous for totally different reasons than they would like.
Hence why art has evolved from being purely classical, and also why what pieces of art "succeded" says more about society than history often does.
>>
>>17530936
>moving the goalposts this far
This is what I have already said to you nigger, and even if I came with this essay, what then? are you going to prepare a counter essay to tell me that my taste simply sucks?
I have already said that wether or not I have a flawed interpretation of this art, is it not hard to say wether the art is empirically bad like you started off with?
>>
>>17530931
Not me m8, and I dislike that implication.
>>
>>17530943
You are probably an aethist too.
This is honestly all I can say to you if you bother arguing with people over opinions which can never be proven or disproven.
This is like trying to set uniform fashion rules, everyone is different.
Hence the simple saying "Beauty is inthe eye of the beholder".
If peopl believe something and can't be disproven, then who are you to argue differently? hence the vast number of interpretations to most popular novels, music, or other media.
>>

I am not proving his point, and he didn't say he didn't like it, I am fine with that, he said is was BAD empirically, and anyone who enjoys it is misinterpreting the work. Why not read the thread before coming at me?
>>
>>17531007
>calls others stupid, post obviously bogus chart to support her point
>>
>>17531004
It IS a bad comic, IMO anyway. The characters being portrayed are flat, generic, and predictable. The sardonic cynicism of the author bleeds through everyone. The only person actually interesting in the series is Yellow Belly Edmund.

But none of that means I can't see the point of the comics was never explaining how the Crossed happened, how they work.

>>17531005
>The Crossed do excel.
Which is why in Crossed +100, humans are sustaining small but growing populations, and Crossed are so rare as to be a surprise to a bunch of scouts. But again, this is irrelevant as Crossed isn't about the plot.
>>
>>17531016
>proud that /mlp/ agrees with his position

I love this shit, I do sort of wish my husband would get into this more. I was telling him about it and I guess I'm lucky since he knows I love shit like this, but I think he's a bit confused by it.

But it's all good, everyone has some weird fucked up shit that they're into, the trick is finding someone who either shares yours or doesn't give a shit.

Thanks for the awesome work sharing these OP!

I believe you, anon. I don't know where to upload things to share tho. I mean, I've used dropbox to share files, but that was with friends, not strangers on the internet.

I hope you find a place to upload everything though.

and if not, would you consider posting like OP (postitnotes) has been doing, but just posting ones we've missed?

There are total 4 main Volumes:
Crossed
Crossed: Family Values
Crossed: Psychopath
>done
Crossed: Badlands which are about 18 Volumes of Short 2-7 Issue comics, such as the one with Edmund here.
>some posted by OP including
10-13, 25, 50-52, 90-94

at least I think that's what's all been posted from looking back at the archived threads, someone who knows the series better could doublecheck maybe.
Crossed: "Wish You Were Here" which was the weekly free comic they posted on their site that ended up becoming pretty neat.
>free online
Crossed +100: Which takes place 100 years after the Crossed first appeared.

I'm new to crossed, but I went back to the archived threads where the OP, postitnotes, provided us with Crossed and other comics - you can find them easily in the archive. I looked up the series online for some general info and it turns out it doesn't -really- matter what order you read things in. The world of Crossed is constant, but the characters, locations and what year within each issue varies. A couple of the ones I read play out as the Crossed Virus first appears in that location (like badlands vol 4-12 issue 10-13 about Yellowbelly/Edmund and the biker gang in a non-specific suburb town), or it takes place later but the lead character flashes back on how it started there (in the Wish You Were Here series, Shaky flashes back to when the outbreak it London).

In Badlands Vol 4-12 Issues #50–56 there's an arc that follows these awesome dudes who are bodyguards/sercurity team for the prime minster in England in the early stages of the outbreak (posted notes started that series in the thread here >>17531357, with the main arc starting
>>17531414 ) and in this section we meet "patient 0".

I've not been into comics much, and would never have found this if I hadn't happened upon it in /x/. At first I really wanted to find an "order" and read them "the correct way", but now I realize that since it's set up the way it is - different stories all taking place within the same world - it's very accessible to someone new to all of this, like me.

Stick with it /x/-bro. The stories are pretty suspenseful, but have funny moments. You'll root for some characters and loathe a few others. It's always a entertaining and gory, haha.

Thanks again, OP postitnotes and bandi cam anon for providing /x/ with cool new stuff.

I love some of the artwork on the covers. One of the ones that really grabbed me was in an earlier thread (I think) - it was just headless bodies hanging from meat hooks, skinned. with the credits/names in the blood pooling in the blood below. It was a lot less busy than some others, but maybe that's why it jumped out at me. Scrolling down and seeing the words in all that blood was really... good. :)
