HP laptop suddenly crashes into the win8 :( blue screen the other day while i had it recording audio (if that's relevant), and gives me this on restart.

No sound whatsoever. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, enabling and disabling the sound driver, nothing. Troubleshooting it also did nothing.

The amd sound driver has this: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

Any ideas?

Did you check the box marked "delete driver software for this device" when uninstalling? Is meant to wipe all data of the device from the system. Or try "roll back driver" if that option is not greyed out.

Just tried that before you posted, actually. It occurred to me that i didn't do that last time. I'll give it a shot now.

No use. Any other ideas? Is my sound card fucked or what?

System restore back to a point before they all screwed up. Just type restore into the start menu and the option should appear.

There's only this point available which is just now after I've reinstalled.
I'm just gonna snap my laptop in half.

You might have to mess around with the registry then. Going by this
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-hardware/windows-cannot-start-this-hardware-device-because/11f84414-135f-435e-9e45-79a7acb08163?db=5&auth=1
finding the right key and deleting it should fix your problem. Not sure which key should be removed though. Also is advisable to create a registry backup before you mess with it. Here is how to do so

Excellent. That solved it.
Fucking NCH debut man, can't believe some recording software can cause this much muck.
Much appreciated anon. Thanks a ton.
