Installed a load of Win7 updates last night and now I'm getting the 'This copy of Windows is not genuine' text on the bottom right corner of my desktop.
The installation appears to still be activated (i.e. no prompts trial period/upgrade prompts) so is there any way for me to simply hide the text?

Sure.
Install this http://amzn.com/B002DUCMTC , and the text will go away.

Just reinstall, and look up which updates do that.
Start -> Search -> Activate Windows
That will tell you if the registration was successful or not
If it wasn't, there's a myriad of things you can do to "make it go away" and all of which can be found through Google including spoofing keys, feigning registration, etc, but that stuff will probably make it difficult to upgrade beyond W7 (which shouldn't be a problem if you don't plan on upgrading anytime)
tl;dr google it, jewtube has videos too

This doesn't work because there's no slui.exe on my system.
As far as I can tell, it's purely a 'cosmetic' issue with the desktop text so the common solutions aren't much help.
