Thereafter you should get around to watching Turn A Gundam.
If you want a stand-alone story not related to Gundam, watch "Bokurano", the studio that produces the show might throw you off but it is without a doubt one of the better mecha anime's out there, where the individuals behind the main mech being the show's soul focus. It helps that it has a kickass opening as well.
