So I have only been watching anime for a like 2.5 years now so I have just been coasting off of all the mainstream stuff that is always mentioned in these kind of threads; Eveangelion, Code Geass, Bebop, FMA, Attack on Titan, Bleach, Naruto, Steins;Gate, Hellsing Ultimate etc etc

But now that I have finished those I don't really know anymore, so does anyone know really good animes that would NOT have been mentioned in top anime / top x genre lists since that's where most of my suggestions came from.

Heres MAL, been slacking on updating it lately but gives you an idea if you care to look; http://myanimelist.net/profile/ZeroCool395

thanks anons

It's not really slice of life. They actually work towards a goal throughout the whole series.

Did you watch yuru yuri its one of the better slice of life shows nichijou is good too

>Go watch ghost in the shell stand alone complex

is that a good starting point for someone that has never seen ANY Ghost in the Shell stuff?

Noticed it before but it had so many different entries was confused where to begin.

Also never seen / heard of Yuru Yuri, the only slice of life I have ever enjoyed was WataMote just due to the cringe factor... not really my jam besides that one in particular.
>>
>>46804
Yuru yuri is the thing in the op and nichijou is really over the top and actually funny not just cute girls doing cute things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YPRGVIX5TM

I think its the best starting point personally
You can watch the movie then SAC but its not necessary to understand it

Chaos;Head, Psycho Pass, Death Note, No Game No Life, Zankyou no Terror, Mirai Nikki, Another, Shiki, School-Live!(Do not be confused by looking at the name. School-Live is a very apocalyptic, psychological anime), Serial Experiments Lain, Elfen Lied, Chaos;Child

High School of The Dead(Horror/Ecchi/Harem), Corpse Party: Tortured Souls, Corpse Party: Missing Footage, Zekkyou Gakkyuu, Ajin,

The Vision of Escaflowne

my favorite show of all time, just happened to fall right in the middle of the whole cowboy bebop/evangelion/etc age and for whatever reason isn't often talked about.

it sort of tries to be every genre all at once and it somehow remains radical despite that

>so you want a down to earth show that's completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots
>escaflowne

it's shonen its shoujo it's fantasy it's scifi it's romance it's comedy it's got angels and dragons and airships and prophecy and catgirls and gigantic fucking noses and and and

Ninja Scroll
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Highlander: Search for Vengeance
Macross Plus
Galaxy Express 999

Oh boy do i have a list of obscure but good anime for you. Most of these will be mid-late 90s titles though

Mezzo DSA (Mezzo forte is the prequel, but it's porn)
Avenger
Gungrave (i didn't like the second half personally, but it's good.)
Mardock Scramble (three movies)
Great Teacher Onizuka
DearS (Cutesy futuristic moeblob anime, but pretty good)
Tokko
Birdt the Mighty Decode (the newer series will probably interest you more)
Denpa Teki na Kanojo (One of the top anime's ever created imho)
Dominion Tank Police
Freedom
The Guyver (The classic OVAs are the best imo)
Kaibutsu Oujo
Kara no Kyoukai (Another contender for greatest anime ever. split into 7 movies.)
Kino no Tabi (aka Kino's Journey)
Kurau: Phantom Memory
Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne
Shadow Skill (Probably my favorite high action martial arts anime)
True Tears (A good Slice of Life drama)
White Album 2 (same as above)

Most of these you can find Dubbed if that's your thing.

Just watched the 1995 movie, I don't even know what really happened at the end there.. did sh e merge with the Puppet Master?

Didn't really hook me the way I hoped it would and want me want to watch the anime.
>>
>>47601
>did sh emerge with the Puppet Master?
iirc yes its been years since ive seen it though
I found the show more engaging and the characters acted more human
I think the show takes place before the movie anyway

Redline trailer because movies are cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2H_FsmxWzc
>>
>>46804
Agreed, watch the original GITS movie before moving into SAC, or much of it will seem irrelevant.

>>46739
My picks:

Wacky comedic adventure - 宇宙海賊ミトの大冒険 [Uchū Kaizoku Mito no Daibōken] (Space Pirate Mito) lots of WTF?

Romantic drama - 彼氏彼女の事情 [Kareshi Kanojo no Jijō] (His and Her Circumstances) lots of D'AWWW

Hentai - 淫獣学園 LaBlue Girl [Injū Gakuen La Blue Girl] (Lewd Beast Academy: La Blue Girl) lots of tentacle grape

Police comedy/drama - 逮捕しちゃうぞ [Taiho Shichauzo] (You're Under Arrest) lots of slice-of-life

and a random surreal dystopian crime drama (movie) - デッド リーブス [Deddo Rībusu] (Dead Leaves) what is this I don't even...

These are rather old-school, and certainly won't appear on the "mainstream" viewlists :p

Have fun with 'em.

Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, FMA, Champloo, Black Lagoon, Fate/Stay Night, Gunslinger Girl, GTO, Berserk(read, maybe I should watch too), Paranoia Agent, Mushishi, Claymore (my absolute second favorite), GiTS, Xamdo (probably my 3rd from that list)

Holy shit how has no one mentioned Anidb yet?
