finished the series for the 2nd time and i thoroughly enjoy the whole damn thing that i need more shows similar or in the same range of greatness as SEL.

Top four on this chart are by the same character designer and more importantly, the same producer - Yasasuki Ueda.
The rest on this chart is stuff with a similar vibe, some of it being inspired by Lain, some of those actually had the same director or scriptwriter on stadd.
Also, check out NGE and Utena if you haven't. They're similarly a surreal, psychological take on a common genre featured in anime.
