while eva could be a decent contender for what makes me like anime, i'd have to go with Gundam 08th MS squad. It got me into slower shows and shows that are more close knit and semi real.

Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop
Do you want to know how many anons were influenced by Evangelion, isn't it ?
>be 10 years old watching Eva in cable TV
>Why this cartoon looks so different ? Looks like Digimon but better
>What the fuck is happening ? Is so intriguing I love it
>This girls look very nice
Nude scenes in my cartoons
>Oh my gosh how is this even possible, I love it
>I love the realism, sex and violence
>This is the final episode... I don't understand
>So... this is anime
>I'm going to watch more
Nanoha.
Angel Beats.
Was the first anime I ever watched, it was the favourite of my girlfriend at that time and she made me.
She left me halfway through it.
Tbh I didn't like Cowboy Bebop that much and for some reason I never understood the Madoka hype.
This is kind of a shitty one, but I had to pause my watching Mirai Nikki for about a week due to circumstances right after Ninth's "death", so I was in mourning for a week before learning she survived due to literal deus ex machina
