if you saw only a picture of the moon, how could you tell where the sun was when the picture was taken? Pls help thank you

Look for the terminator on the moon. The terminator, the line between the dark and light parts, is described by the intersection of the spherical moon with a disc perpendicular to the line between the center of the sun and the center of the moon. The sun is on this line, in the direction that passes through the light side of the moon.
So, for example, in the picture in >>27283 , the terminator is all around the outside of the moon, so the line is pointed at the photographer, and the sun must, therefore, be behind her.
