There are a few formats that support a transparency layer, including gif, png, bmp, tiff, jpg 2000.
I personally would use a png. I can't help with the actual edit (not on my own computer) but it's cute how you are slowly adding to your little avatar thing.

Thank you! That means a lot considering this is my first time doing something like this. I'm trying to get it to match my clothing as much as possible. I'm attempting to start creating shitty videos for youtube, but I don't have a computer at the moment because I'm a poorfag. Haha So I'm resulting to asking help and doing it all through my mobile phone. It's taken a lot of work but everybody on here has been so helpful.
