Hi all,
I am looking at buying a new laptop and i have narrowed it down to either the dell xps 13 with the i7, 256 GB, and the 3200 x 1800 display or the Surface Pro 4 i5, 8GB, 256gb
Having to buy the keyboard for the Surface Pro 4 makes them comparable in price. I mainly use the laptop for light photo editing (lightroom), i travel a lot which is why I am looking for something lightweight.

Don't know about the other, but I'd hold off on the Surface 4 at the moment. I have one and a large number of them are having hardware issues (freezes, screen flickering, etc). It's a good tablet/laptop when it works, but it has some kinks to work out. Surface 3 might be a good choice though (i have that as well).

If i get the surface pro 3 now wont i be missing out a bit or is the difference so marginal that it wont make a difference?

Check out the Asus x303 2015 edition. Comparable/Better specs and out of the world build quality.
Between those too I'do go with the dell. You can't even use the surface without a solid surface to put it on so no editing while in passenger seat or in transportation.

I looked at the asus, it does not look like I can get it here in Denmark.
What about the lenovo yoga 900 13"? The specs look roughly similar
looking to buy this, specs are really good, any reason why i shoudn't buy a medion laptop? doesn't seem too popular.
rough specs:
nvdidia NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M,
8gb upgradable ram(need to work with virtual machines),
intel I7
1000GB HDD, 128GB SSD
>inb4 adware
idrc for this price i'll make it work properly

Sepcvise this look pretty good - it is a fairly cheap brand there will always be some compromises when buying at a discount (often at least) but if you need to use it at home primarily then there is no reason to get an ultra portable lightweight laptop
