I think the guy lying on the road was a motorcyclist who was behind them. You can see his silhouette fly past and ram into the back of the white car at 0:03 seconds. As for the white car itself you can see its taillights at 0:20 seconds, way down the road crashed into that lone tree

yeah, thanks, i'm already subscribed to his actual channel (youtube.com/LionWhispererTV) - that guy is the absolute exception and even he puts his trusted long-time co-workers into steel cages. he may be part of the pride and he may have devoted his life into understanding these wonderful animals - but they're still fucking killing machines. just by playing and fooling around with them you can regularly see him bleed. even the most yolked out human is puny and squishy compared to these cats of pure muscle.

but he says that lions have a natural fear of humans. only when humans are regularly around them (like on safaris, zoos or circusses) they gradually lose their fear - which is what makes these lions so incredibly dangerious. they're used to humans. you better keep your fucking distance.

>>
>>982231
haha those wolves are so shit
>>
>>982702
maybe, maybe not. is an experienced free climber hypocritical when he tells climbing novices to properly secure themselves with ropes?

anyway, those are not wild lions. he runs a sanctuary, meaning all the lions came from some sort of captivity anyway. he's not trying to turn them back into wild lions (he's not encouraging them to hunt - he feeds them meat) and he's not breeding them (they're on birth control). and of course, he's only in with the lions he knows. they often have decades of shared history. i'm not saying what he does isn't dangerious (it absolutely is), but i think he's qualified to judge and take that risk. and sure, accidents happen. i can totally see him getting killed by a lion on accident when he's too cocky some distant day. but i also think with a life time of experience you can easily tell when a lion is grumpy and keep your distance that day. there's probably a million cues that tell you their mood, defensiveness and aggressiveness if you spend enough time with them.

anyway, why am i defending a stranger i don't even know? he might well be an idiot, i just like his videos.

People really should just leave spiders alone, they don't bother anything. Ladybugs that burrow through your roof during winter time are more likely to cause harm, they'll try to burrow into your nose or edge of the ear as you sleep to stay warm in some cases.

I just can't though, if I know there's a spider in my bedroom I literally can't sleep, I have to go into the spare room or if there's a spider in the bathroom I won't go to toilet until it's gone. The level of fear I have where spiders are concerned is insane, it's much easier for me to just murder them and not have to worry.

humans are a single species so we all bring the same thing to the table unlike animals in an ecosystem.
>>
>>1040176
that's one way of interpreting the video, and it's certainly the way the narrator seems to feel.

there's an implicit assumption that diverse ecologies = good ecologies. there are good and not-so-good reasons for thinking diverse ecologies are good.

on the one hand, a diverse ecology more maximally utilizes the resources inherent to its system, producing much higher biomass - and a greater variation thereof, which is commonly more useful.

HOWEVER, what goes unstated in the video is that the trophic cascade works exactly in reverse as well - remove the wolves and the whole system collapses, causing a massive die-off. While before, the ecosystem of yellowstone supported a limited number of deer, it did so sustainably by definition. Now a much greater biomass is supported, but so much more precariously.

In nature, you can basically either have a simple, robust ecosystem (think of human city ecosystems, where relatively few animals thrive but do so pretty much no matter what humans throw at them - a chaotic, difficult environment that nonetheless produces very stable populations), or you can have the nightmarishly complex ecosystems like coral reefs and rainforests, where removing one small piece of the ecosystem causes a jenga tower-like trophic cascade which ultimately destroys the whole thing.

the important thing to remember is that nature literally doesn't give a fuck which type of ecosystem prevails in a given area. It's up to us to determine which type of ecosystem is more desirable for us to have in a given area. We probably need a balance of both.

10/10 would gf.
>>
>>1041933
the reason why removing wolves was bad was because they were removed to quickly. Organisms compete with each other for resources and those that can't compete go extinct. The Ecosystem in Yellowstone had been functioning with wolves for millions of years, and then in the span of a century or two (a microsecond in evolutionary time) they were gone. The important distinction that should be made is not diverse vs less diverse ecosystems, it's the level of human impact. The biodiversity of an ecosystem is dependent on things we really don't understand and is not implicit of its value or production abilities
