holy shit the quaint naivete and outdatedness. I may have shed a tear.
We really did flip 10,000,000 shits because some dude dared make money off his website by "hosting other people's content."
Which is basically the internet today?
>>831146
gone too soon
>>831194
And it shouldn't be that way. Too many people gave up that fight and people just built on what he had done

There's a reason people call it "Web 2.0" now.

It was the first llittle pocket of resistance against something that makes countless people incredible money today.
Shit, I've seen at least a dozen TV shows dedicated to people commenting on viral videos and shit, usually stretching out 3 or 4 30 second videos into a half hour of bullshit.

You are literally cancer, in base sciences that matter its:
Biology<Chemistry<Physics<Mathematics
They are literally all derivatives of each other.
Its a really cool webm because it shows everything in the world can really be represented by a cold hard formula.
In the end Math is literally the purest form of the sciences there is.

I remember being a part of that raid with SA, Ytmnd, 4chan, and several others. I'd go as far as to say it was probably one of the first landmark joint raids that's been forgotten through time.
In retrospect, it may sound extremely stupid, especially to people who weren't on the internet 10 years ago. Unfortunately things went in a different direction.
Fuckin Lindsay Lohan not changing facial expressions wasn't worth fighting over anyway. In some ways it's better now since people who create content can at least find a way to take a slice of the pie if they care. Hell, those damn sites serve their purpose for people to find their content instead of wading through 1000's of the same lame cat videos over and over again. Usually that lame shit is all they host anyway.
The good news is, every time I think the Internet's creative well has run dry, something else comes along that is at the very least amusing.
>>835743
I think that's what bothers me the most.
>>838108
Just a one off, with added music.
You can find it here, but it's quite lame without the Coldplay song.

Fukken noice
>>837114
Neat
>>839127
Why is this giving me feels?!
>>831194
The issue wasn't just hosting others content, it was pasting your water mark over the video itself pretty much claiming that you yourself made it, shit they even went out of their way to erase other water marks and put their own over it, all just to claim it was their own and then taking full profits of whatever money from views/ads said video got. Now its just a soft watermark. It may sound like a simple thing but right to content issues get really deep into the simplest things.
If you watch tosh.0 or anything like that ( internet clip viewing shows on tv) if you see a feature video on there and you end up finding the original on youtube, look at the discription it will most likely be full of a big legal statement talking about copyright and not allowing to share without permission.Ebaum started this before it was an issue and profited big time.
>>835499
I really need sauce on that one

Jesus, this brings back some memories.

If we want to do terms, I think math is technically not a science. It is part of the body of knowledge we call science but doesn't follow the process of science (the whole re-testable hypothesis thing as it is fully deductive thinking). It is integral (don't mind the pun) to all the sciences and it's true that certain parts of science use the other disciplines. If science is anything, it is physics just in different forms (we study the physical phenomena of the world) and I say this as a biologist.
>>839378
In a certain way yes however what I was trying to say is that they all derive from each other. The fundamental foundation of Bio is Chemistry such as chemicals in our cells, in turn chemistry is all about particle physics and in turn physics is describing the universe which math defines.
So yes, I would agree that perhaps mathematics falls into more of a special category, one which is more of a tool. However in the end we can say that the universe in it's purest form is can "simply" be explained in pure mathematics
