PANZER VOR
>>
>>804194
The anime was retarded.
Also the heaviest was the E-100 and it got disassembled by allies.
>>
>>804194
Why is this titled commie? The song that's playing is Panzerlied and those are German tanks. Get on your game faggot.
>>
>>804222

The E-100 was a lighter maus, though.

It was just a tiger 2 chassis with a maus turret mounted on top.
>>
>>804222
It can get pretty stupid. At one point a Type 89, with its awful paper thin armor, gets hit with a round from an IS-2 and is totally fine.

This fucking shit is killing anime. Why the fuck they have to do everything with moe nowadays? It ruins everything.
>>
>>803425

I don't remember seeing that scene
>>
>>804253
Tanks have reinforced magical (not literary) armor. That way tanks can survive any attack or stuff what could destroy them in real life. So we have stuff like this, or tankettes surviving being shot at, Hertzer being under Mauss for while.

>>804645
Still it's anime with tanks, hard to find those in serious, war anime (because those have mechs instead).
>>
>>804383
It's ok, I liked the show. But I just want tank gifs and webms
>>
>>803285

OP here again
>>
>>802875
You mean the tanks that couldn't turn their turrets on hills because they would fall over?
>>
>>804251
>Tiger II chassis
>able to mount the Maus turret

Yeah no, the Maus turret probably weighed more than the Tiger II chassis. The E-100 had a different chassis. It had much more angled glacis plates and rear transmission, unlike the Tiger II.
>>
>>805130
Yeah, the KV-2 was pretty shit. That's why only ~300 of them were ever made. As far as a 152 mm howitzer goes, the ISU-152 was much, much more effective.

Thats quite a bit more kinetic energy, and the other tank was a light tank.
>>805738

Its safe to say they understanding of material sciences far outstrips our own.

the unstable trajectory is due to strong crosswinds, right?

Well it's not a softening of a war story it's more of a sports series, and whilst the premise is silly at first, it takes itself quite seriously and you kind of just roll with it. And for all of the artistic liberties they take with tank behavior I say overall they did a pretty good job with the tank battles.
>>

What's this from?
>>
>>805647
Building a tank takes a week, training a tank crew takes at least 18 years.
>>
>>806002
I don't know what model of ATGM that is, but modern Russian made ones are programmed to weave around like that to make it harder for active protection systems to detect that it's coming for the tank and intercept it.

>>809111
Why did they blow up a whole tank to kill a bird?
>>
>>812142
They might as well be throwing rocks at it. If the gunner figures out roughly where they are he will just fire a shell in their general direction, and for a few seconds, the air will be 90% 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree shrapnel.
>>
>>812438
Unlike what you seem to believe, tanks, even the abram, aren't invulnerable beasts of war, they can be easily disabled and shitskins have lost a few abrams to atgms. Only good tactics and training from the americans made them look godly.
>>
>>812442
It's easy to disable a tank with an rpg. All you need to do is to hit the track. To take out a tank completely on the other hand you need to breach the crew compartment. The AT4, the light AT weaponry US soldiers carries(that mind you also has better penetration capability than those old USSR pieces) cannot pierce a modern tank in the front, and even the sides are highly unlikely. The only way a atgm stands a decent chance of killing a tank is by hitting it in the rear or on the top where the tanks armor is relatively weak.

I only know of some missiles spiraling towards their target.

"To capitalise on the advantage given by using a lower cost seeker the Soviet designers also produced a new flight control system: Fixed fins cause the missile to spin in flight and a single moving control surface adjusts its course during this rotation. The result is that for the cost of one equivalent Western model, the Soviets could build five. Any loss of effectiveness being partially counteracted by pilots being encouraged to fire their missiles in pairs."

That was a Metis-M tandem charge ATGM, you can tell by the flare used to track the missiles flight path. The precursor charge negates ERA and the the main charge is supposedly can pen ~900mm RHAe after ERA, some manufacturers include precursor penetration to inflate stats so take it with a grain of salt but 700mm+ is expected from a ATGM of its size and age.

No tank can take one in the side and remain unharmed. However the blowout panels worked fine and the hull should be salvageable and crew alive.

How do you know this? Is it just knowing a lot about military shit or is it just you can tell from what it looks like
>>
>>833077
By looking and by knowing. If it was a current A2, it would have sides skirts of explosive reactive armor, and the .50 up top would have a camera module. The stuff about armor composition is simply politics; export Abrams tanks don't get the latest composites or DU components, as a matter of protocol.

why the fuck doesent anyone know how fuckin cameras work? the camera is zoomed in and since the missile is flying parallel to the line between the objective and the camera, you will see all the flopping around. if the missile was flying horisontally and you were filming it, it would seem as a stright line but it would flopp around just the same

Actually no. It's saving anime. Anime has been losing popularity in Japan for decades, and it took a certain genius show called Lucky Star to start to save it. If it weren't for moe, Anime as a medium would be dead by now.

were they lugging around a fucking sound studio or were those sounds added later. Maybe my expectations are dimmed because of the shitty tiny cellphone and camcorder mics nowadays
>>
>>843377
Cameras in that era did not have sound. Unless you had some other guys lugging around a boom mic getting as close as possible to the origin of the sound, and you don't really see any boom mic guys all over the battlefield, do you?

So yes, all the action sound you ever heard from WW2 films or documentaries is all foley work.
>>
>>843377
>Shitty tiny cellphone and camcorder mics

As opposed to the high definition old dial telephone and VHS mics?
>>
>>843390

I recall VHS camcorders having way better sound quality than any video recorded with a phone I see on the internet. Probably just has to do with the old VHS camcorders having larger mics. Maybe I'm recalling incorrectly I don't really know.
>>
>>843396
I hope you're joking. Home VHS recorders could barely catch any sound further away than 10-15 feet if it wasn't some massive explosion.
>>

>export Abrams tanks don't get the latest composites or DU components, as a matter of protocol.

True, but they still have composite armour, just last-gen version.

How's it feel if you're a veteran of Desert Storm knowing your armor only saved you because the Iraqis were using steel Sabot rounds, not DU or Tungsten?

That particular M1 got hit over thirty times by RPGs and still remained partially functional. I'm pretty sure it got mobility killed, but fought back until a recovery unit got there. Was back in operation less than a week later. Was during a thnder run when we were taking Baghdad.
>>
>>822187
It's actually mostly a failure of training and skill. The arabs cannot into conventional warfare, so have zero clue how to correctly employ the M1. It's a general failure of every middle eastern arab army.

>>
>>844887
The Sherman had the lowest fatality rates of any main armor vehicle in the war.
>>
>>844608
That's not true at all, and is a myth that has somehow gained ground.
For one, the US is the only country that uses DU rounds, and two, the Iraqis had Tungsten penetrators as well.

The frontal armor of an Abrams is nearly impregnable to any tank fired weapon sans a couple weak spots. Abrams can't frontally penetrate an Abrams.
The side armor is significantly weaker, and would have been pregnable to even the older steel sabots the Iraqis did field in reserve and second rate armor corps. But unlike the Iraqis, the US armored corps is well trained and intelligent and operates in conjunction with infantry support and air assets, meaning they almost never got into a situation where the side armor was exposed.

The Desert Storm vets survived because they outfought and outsmarted their opponents, not because their opponents were incapable of hurting them. They were more than capable of hurting our armed forces, but our armed forces never let themselves become vulnerable.

It's a fact, and factually supported by actual army records rather than two bit hacks, politicians, and pogs with an axe to grind.

I'll look for the actual figures, but I seem to recall them being around 1.7 kia per tank knocked out. British tankers had higher wounding rates, while American tankers had higher fatality rates, but only by around .2%.
Most casualty rates for tankers hovered at 2-3%, with some Soviet tanks having 3-4 casualties on average per tank lost.
This also includes tankers lost while outside of their tanks by things such as artillery shrapnel, snipers, ambushes while peeking out the tank or just getting their head blown off while peeking out of the turret, as well as casualties caused by rounds that penetrated but did not destroy or disable the tank.

And when you look at what the Sherman was it shouldn't be surprising. Compared to its contemporaries it was either similar or superior. The PzIV had the advantage of being up gunned en masse, but even the short 75 on the Sherman was more than capable of knocking out, their armor profile was very similar, with the Sherman actually having both more effective hull armor and much better turret armor. The T-34 was in every way inferior to the Sherman until its T-34/85 overhaul which made the tanks largely on par with T-34s having somewhat better HE and more kinetic energy behind their rounds, although the Sherman still retained significant ergonomic advantages and reliability advantages.
Don't take it from me, take it from an actual Tanker.
A Soviet tanker at that. Here's a few of his accomplishments.
>fought for years in Shermans
>knocked out a Tiger tank in a Sherman
>survived his Sherman being destroyed twice, unlike the guys in the T-34 next to him who all died when the ammo cooked off and the tank exploded

Also before anyone brings up
>muh Panthers
>muh Tigers
Just remember that all the Tigers and Panthers still lost the Germans the war, and the US had a near 1 to 1 k/d ratio to German armor. And also that anti tank guns and handheld anti tank weapons like the Panzerfaust killed far more tanks than German tanks ever did.
>>
>>855518
And that's 2-3 casualties, not %, of course.

I've been trying to figure out where this footage came from too. It's seems to be a Shtora-1 test. Someone tell me that tanks are now paired with their own drones that can survey the area? Not just some high flying USA drones. I mean like a drone you can shove into the barrel of the tank and have it launch out and up into the sky that gives a video feed. IT may have autonomous mode/manual flight might be controlled via low power laser. Whatever the situation requires.

No, they die instantly. The guy you see running away you can see him under the back of the tank at the beginning doing "something". He wasn't inside the tank.

Any explosive force that can blow a hole in a tank will instantly kill everyone inside due to the pressure involved.

No way that was a tank shell, you can see the projectile on screen for two or three frames before it explodes, and it looks like they got about 3 seconds warning that it was coming.
A tank round would be much too fast, so it was probably some sort of rocket/missile.

Unlike what you seem to believe, the Abrams is only popular because its highly produced and highly successful during wartime. It shined in the Gulf War with a MASSIVE kill to loss ratio. Only tanks lost in combat were due to friendly fire and the bullshit pics youll find online are due to self detonation. As in, it cant be salvaged so the army destroys them. Sure they arent invincible but check out the combat history and tell me how many crew members have died due to combat.
