outrun is like 80's retrofuturism. dark backgrounds. lots of neon. lots of cars. think tron. the feeling you get when you are driving a car late at night and all you can see are the lines in the road moving past you, one by one.
vaporwave is based around aesthetics, reminiscing about a time that never really existed. 2000's internet culture w/ 90's corporate design w/80's music. also anime. basically all the shit that millenials experienced growing up. lots of roman statues b/c they basically invented the concept of aesthetics. it's harder to describe vaporwave than outrun though because outrun is more of a one trick pony, i feel like that will offend soome people though.
